I think a lot has changed since the management changed. The hot water is wonderful, and it's clear that they want to preserve the inn, but the aging and lack of human resources can't be overcome.

When I used this beforeI will write what I honestly feel.[Good points]・What the overseas staff did their best・It's deep in the mountains, so it's quiet and relaxing.・The sound of the river is soothing and you can feel nature.・Location and atmosphere where you can feel Japan[Particularly bad points]・Conversation content between Japanese staff・I haven't done anything that would be better to renovate.・Room smells like mold and cigarettesAs everyone has written in their reviews,I think it's good for people who like the good old days. However, very elderly people or people with disabilitiesThere are many stairs and long hallways, so I don't recommend it. I think it would be very difficult to go from the guest room at the end to the hot spring at the end. There are no elevators or ramps. The room also has steps that make it easy to trip.Insects can't be helped because we live deep in the mountains, but they usually come into our rooms.I felt like they were taking advantage of the good old days and neglecting areas that needed to be renovated. When I entered the room, there was a strong smell of mold and cigarettes, giving the impression that it had not been properly cleaned. There were also dents in the tatami mats on the floor, and I was a little worried about the parts sinking every time I walked on them.In particular, the toilet has a smell due to deterioration over time, and I think this needs improvement as well. The bathroom in the room was also dirty and deteriorated over time so I didn't feel like taking a bath. While maintaining the atmosphere of a good old ryokan, I felt that these areas needed regular maintenance.Although it claims to be a good old fashioned hotel, the person who showed us around the room and the inn was a foreign staff member who spoke poor Japanese. They did their best to accommodate us, so I have no complaints about that. The most unpleasant thing was when I had to go to the vending machine near the front desk. The person in charge with white hair and glasses wearing a suit?I heard someone say something bad about someone in a loud voice. Is that a bad thing about the employees who work there? They didn't even say hello to us as we passed by.I felt very sick.I could see that the relationships between staff members were strained, and I felt that this atmosphere was affecting employee morale and service. When I passed by again at night,Next, a person in a different suit was sleeping confidently with his arms crossed.Unfortunately, at this point I decided it would be difficult to visit this inn again. If the person at the front desk were the person in charge of the inn, I would feel sorry for all the employees, and I would not want to work for someone like that. This kind of abusive atmosphere is transmitted to both employees and, in some cases, customers.I felt that the staff from overseas were working harder in their own way than the Japanese staff at this inn.To preserve the good old daysWe must also rely on young people with fresh ideas who will live in the future.I felt that they should take good care of their employees. In the end, I ended up with a different perspective,I want the good old Japanese inns to be preserved, so I hope they value their employees and make improvements to meet modern needs.

Although the facilities are quite old, the rooms and bathrooms were well kept.

The inn lived up to its tagline of being an inn loved by the great writers of the Showa era.The green maple trees in the garden can be seen from the old-fashioned windows, and of course there is an indoor bath with hot spring water, as well as meals served in the room in the evening and morning, making this an ideal inn for those who want to relax or just take it easy. When it came to the food, I could feel the skill of the chef, and the attentiveness and sense of distance from the proprietress and staff made it the best place to stay.

My wife took me there for my birthday. I was able to eat in my room and relax. Although the food wasn't piping hot, it was a very delicious meal that showed the skill of the chef. The hot springs were nice and it was an inn that I would like to visit again. It's a pity that I can't organize and upload the photos 💦

It was a wonderful and relaxing stay for me.Recently, even business hotels are promoting differentiation by offering night-naki soba noodles and happy hours, and luxury hotels and inns in tourist areas are offering activities and facilities to make your stay more enjoyable, but this hotel is the opposite. This is an inn where you can go.This is an old-fashioned inn with simple rooms and amenities. However, the room was clean and the furniture looked like it had been taken care of, so the term "spartan and sturdy" fits the bill.If you sit on a chair on the wide veranda and listen carefully, you will naturally hear the chirping of birds, the sound of rustling trees, and the flow of a clear stream. If you look out the window at the mountains, you can watch the sun set in the evening and watch the sun rise in the early morning. At midnight, we could see a sky full of stars that looked like a planetarium. This is a recommended inn for those who like this kind of way to spend their time.In terms of service, it seems that there used to be a landlady, but she no longer exists, and there are several foreign employees working there. People who are used to sophisticated services may find it strange, but since they seemed to be working very seriously, it's best to close one eye and ask them what they need. I think it's good. The food and hot springs are perfectly good.Although it is not the ``extravagant'' cuisine you would find in a typical hotel or inn, the quality of each dish is very high. I think you will be able to appreciate the wonders of Japanese food once again. There are 2 indoor baths, 2 open-air baths, and a room bath, all of which are hot springs. It was a fun time to relax and visit the hot springs. Also, the guests at this inn had a friendly atmosphere, and they naturally greeted each other when they met in the changing rooms or hallways.I think there are some people who like it or dislike it, but I would like to see inns like this continue to exist. Finally, when I looked at the license plates of the cars staying in the parking lot of the inn, almost all of them had Tokyo license plates. This is probably an irresistible accommodation for people living in the city. lol
