・90% of the staff are foreigners, and you can sometimes smell Indian curry in the building.・The staff is trying their best, but they speak so fast that I can't understand them, and I feel sorry for them when I ask them back.-The tatami mats are old, so when you sit on them, it feels like sleeping on the grass.・The safe is not number locked, so I was worried when I went to take a bath in the basket locker.・The scenery is nice, but you will be exposed to direct sunlight.

When I asked to cancel a few days before my stay due to the typhoon, I was charged a cancellation fee.I don't think there are any legal issues because it is in accordance with the regulations, but I felt that the response was strange because it was a force majeure situation and the facility was trying to prevent food loss and other inconveniences.I have heard that cancellation fees may be waived only if it is confirmed that there will be no means of transportation to get to the accommodation on the day, but such situations are quite limited, so cancellation fees will generally apply even in the case of natural disasters. I think that's the case.

I visited in mid-June to coincide with the Hydrangea Festival 2024. Since I was using it at Sun Moon, I was able to spend a very quiet time.I arrived just after 4pm on a Sunday as planned, and they immediately came to pick me up from the entrance and took my luggage. After that, I went to the counter and selected my address and desired time for dinner and breakfast, and was guided to a room on the 5th floor. The lock was old-fashioned and felt old, but the room was a good size and had plenty of amenities, and the room had a great view of the Shimoda sea.The bath is on the first floor. The slippers used in the building have a tag with the room number written on them to prevent you from wearing them incorrectly in the bathroom. There is a large public bath and an open-air bath, each of which is of a reasonable size. There are only baskets in the changing room, so please do not bring valuables. The open-air bath has lukewarm water, so you can relax while enjoying the breeze.I went in before dinner and early in the morning, but it was pre-season so it was reserved.By the way, although I didn't use it, the bath in the room was large and you could see the sea of Shimoda while soaking. The dining area will be on the second floor. Both meals were supposed to be served at a restaurant, but perhaps due to their kindness, they were served in a private room.First of all, I was surprised by the variety of dishes! Even the pickiest eaters will be satisfied. What's more, everything is delicious, and I hope you enjoy the promised stewed red sea bream. The breakfast was also delicious and had just the right amount. The futon in the room is laid out for you during dinner and raised for breakfast.Lastly, here is my overall impression. The staff members who interacted directly with customers were from other countries (I happened to hear from Nepal), but they were very attentive and I could tell that everyone was working hard. Of course, the Japanese staff also left a good impression.Although it has the name of a hotel, it is a calm inn that is more like a Japanese inn.I stayed for one night, but I will use it again when I visit Shimoda again.

Chose this traditional Japanese inn based on the photos of the food and absolutely not disappointed. They staff was very patience with our lack of Japanese but we had a Japanese friend join us and he helped translate. If you don't speak Japanese definitely have a translation app handy. The dinner and breakfast were very traditional and delishious. Both meals were huge and bursting with flavor. The room was comfortable and large. Was able to get a private bath due to tattoos. If you want a traditional Ryokan experience I highly suggest this place.

The slope at the entrance might be tough for beginner bikers, but other than that I was satisfied and the view from the room was good.

We spent two nights in this ryokan and were very satisfied. The hotel is located on a hill with a beautiful view of Shimoda harbor. The rooms are comfortable and the food absolutely superb. The staff is more than friendly. The hot onsen is fantastic and especially the outdoor lake with a view is famous.I, as a European, can warmly recommend this hotel to everyone who is not far from Japanese culture and Japanese food.Thank you to all the staff
