This is my second stay.It seems normal, but I think it depends on the person.I think it's a good place with an old feel, but this is my second time here, and I've noticed a lot of things and my rating has lowered.Because something impossible happened.

We spent two amazing nights here. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They spoke good English and were very responsive to our messages before we arrived. They were also happy to accommodate a late arrival. They were also very helpful in giving us directions to get to Kamikochi, which is very close to the ryokan. The food was delicious and they were able to cater to our dietary requirements, as my wife has a severe seafood allergy. The breakfast was also delicious and one of the more modern breakfasts we have had in ryokans. Our room was very spacious, well equipped and comfortable. We loved the outdoor ofuro which was very well laid out - the ofuro had lots of comfortable spots to lie or sit around in.All in all, an amazing traditional ryokan experience, from the bath area, to the traditional Japanese rooms, to the delicious dinner.

I was glad that he left me alone at a reasonable distance. If you like hot, colorless and transparent water, this may not be enough for you. It was good for me because I like to stay warm and slowly for a long time.

I have one of the best memories of my trip to Japan in Furusato. The place is very special, magical, authentic. I met very few people there, I never ran into anyone in the onsen, and I had the feeling that all that immensity was there for me. His kindness and her tireless smile made the experience impossible to improve. The care I received was such that when I left there I realized that they had cleaned my suitcase and my sneakers! It was a detail that shocked me (and I realized it by chance, because my sneakers were white and I had been thinking about their dirt for several days). That's where true generosity is demonstrated, in the invisible, when they do something to take care of you without having to show it to you. To finish, I'm going to leave here something I wrote when I left Furusato:“I am going to leave this written in a desperate attempt to retain it in some way: in these last 24 hours I have been and continue to be deeply happy. Smell everything these mountains hold. The humidity. The firewood burning. The steam. The heating of the room. See how the leaves constantly fall. See the mountains in the afternoon sun. The mountains at night. The mountains with the bright morning sun. I have been deeply happy walking in a yukata through the endless corridors of the ryokan. Looking at the beautiful interior garden through its windows on the way to the bathroom, or on the way to bed. Happy integrating with its people and its gastronomy in that special izakaya with such a family atmosphere. Happy breathing deeply, over and over again. Bathing alone in the onsen in the afternoon. Only in the onsen at dawn. Only in the onsen in the morning. At night, the lantern, the moon, the stars and the steam. In the morning, the sun's rays breaking through those clouds of vapor, and the mountains there. Having breakfast unexpectedly like a king in his yukata, and not knowing which small dish to try among the thousands. My room. That room with a window to the countryside. With doors to the countryside. In the afternoon, the purest melancholy. In the morning, all the joy with the sun, the dew, and the birds. Read in front of the field with the doors open. That freshness. That deep peace in the soul. And a bird running across as if I wasn't there.”THANK YOU. Furusato is without a doubt a house that I will always want to return to.

We really liked the experience, and the service is super attentive, but I don't think it was good value for money.Maybe for a 9.4 in booking and €170/night I expected more.Still, the onsen is cool and even though it was public, I was alone.

This is an inn that resembles a good old folk house. It's like returning to my hometown in the countryside. It's colorful and has a great atmosphere. Hot springs have hot water floating in them, warming you from the core of your body. The Hida beef for dinner was delicious!I was surprised by the hostess's hospitality and wealth of knowledge. He also communicates with inbound foreigners. She is also very active in collaborating with Onsen Musume, and I am looking forward to future inn collaboration projects and Fukuchi Onsen.I stayed during the rainy season, but the hydrangeas in the courtyard were impressive.

A nice ryokan which is unfortunately a bit outdated. The staff more than makes up for it, and they are in my opinion the primary reason to stay here, in combination with the excellent food (10/10!) For its price, it's amazing and most priceworthy. Do take the dinner experience as it's one of the best meals I've had so far in Japan

We spent 3 nights in Furusato. The accommodation offers very large rooms, which is really nice. The rooms are very clean. There is good heating and a wonderful view! The only small downside is at the level of the outer Onsen, the edges of the pool are covered with a large deposit. I don't know what it is. But in the previous onsen I went to there wasn't that.Perhaps it would be possible to clean the edges of these stones? There were also some moldy/blackened boards in the indoor onsen (under the mirrors at the shower level) there may be a way to replace these damaged boards. And another concern I had was having very dry skin, with irritation after each use of the Onsen, it might be good to offer a moisturizing cream in the locker room. But otherwise we had an excellent stay, especially thanks to the lady at reception who was incredibly kind.We arrived one evening when it was snowing heavily, we hadn't planned to eat dinner and she offered us a curry at a very affordable price. Restaurants in the regions were exceptionally closed that day.Thank you for your kindness.

I went with four friends I hadn't seen in three years during the snowy season.I used to come to Okuhida Onsenkyo often, but this was my first time in the Fukuchi Onsen area. It was a place where you could enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of a Japanese hot spring inn, as there were many old buildings in a very quiet and natural setting. It's a mountainous area with many ups and downs, so studless shoes and chains are a must in winter.I went there to relax and enjoy the hot springs and the hearth rather than sightseeing, so I was happy to be able to check in from 2:30 p.m.!There are no family baths or private baths, but there are spacious indoor baths and open-air baths for men and women.I went on a cold day because I wanted to take a snowy bath, so it was nice that the floor in the changing room was warm. The hot water is colorless and transparent, making your skin smooth and smooth. Perhaps because the outside temperature was below freezing, the open air was rather lukewarm, making it comfortable for children to enter.According to a local who was visiting the hot springs for a day trip, the spring quality is the softest and gentlest on the skin in this area.I have extremely dry skin, but this bath kept my skin moist and smooth even without moisturizing after the bath! The main meal is local cuisine, and there is a private room where you can sit on chairs and surround the hearth. My friend, who has bad knees and needs a cane, was also very happy with how helpful it was.I feel like there were many dishes with a gentle, gentle flavor that allowed you to fully enjoy Hida cuisine. The duck hotpot simmering in the hearth, grilled tempura fish, and wild vegetable dishes are truly delicious! There are many types of local sake, so it's fun to try and compare them. There were also some good wines. The overall amount was just right, but perhaps because it was a place with good water, the white rice was so delicious that I ended up having to refill it and was full lol.I stayed in a simple, spacious room with a futon. I was worried because other reviews said the mattress was hard, but I wonder if they could change the mattress? It was easy to sleep on the mattress which distributed body pressure.I went on a cold day with low temperatures, so I was a little worried about the cold toilet seat, but there was a dedicated heater in the bathroom, so I was able to stay warm while enjoying the snowy scenery and icicles outside.Customer service is also very polite and kind. Perhaps because the inn is run by a landlady, you can feel the attentiveness and hospitality. It's a very relaxing and relaxing inn, and as the name suggests, you'll want to come back to it again!
