The best thing is the onsen. Wonderfully relaxing. Room OK for average sized people. Breakfast adequate, but the breakfast room has cafeteria character.

It is a 7 minute walk from Takayama Station. On the day I stayed, about 90% of the guests were foreigners. The person at the front desk was polite and kind. The large public bath and open-air bath on the top floor were both comfortable and the guest rooms were clean. There are jinya and old town-like shopping streets within walking distance, and I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Hida Takayama.

The hotel is located close to the center and there is a supermarket right next door. The staff were all extremely friendly and looked after us very well. The rooms are very small and you can't open two suitcases in the room at the same time without blocking the hallway. The furnishings of the room have seen better days and the cleanliness could also be a little better. The bathroom is a very small wet room with a shower, toilet and sink. The furnishings and size of the room can still be improved.Breakfast took place downstairs in a separate room. The setup is easy. The food selection includes hot and cold dishes and offers both Asian and European breakfasts. Unfortunately not everything was excellent in English, so sometimes we didn't know what it was about. The onsen was nicely decorated and offers everything you need. Unfortunately, a little more attention could have been paid to cleanliness here too. Finally, it has to be said that the employees made up for the shortcomings described above with their friendly and courteous demeanor. You can sometimes overlook a few things.

Apart from the spa (onsen), it's more of a low light hotel.Rooms are clean and okay so far. Bathroom/shower toilet is very small similar to cruise level. It is very warm and stuffy in the room and the air conditioning only circulates the air without being too cool. The breakfast offering is manageable and the narrow breakfast room only has the charm of a canteen.Only the usual Japanese friendliness is given.

We stayed here for one night during our Japan tour. Was on the whole tour. Worst hotel so far, but still okay. The room was the smallest and the facilities weren't the best either. The breakfast took some getting used toThe onsen on the roof above is supposed to be nice. But I personally wasn't up there.

We arrived at the hotel, good reception and apparently good facilities, the surprise was in the room when we opened the bed and found it full of hair and the pillow was dirty.
