Traditional Japanese house, excellent treatment.Flawless. I would repeat without a doubt. We only went one night, we were able to take advantage of the private bath in the onsen and the morning views of the pagoda. It certainly made our visit to Miyajima unforgettable.

Ryokan perfectly located. Traditional 300 year old house. Reservations and exchanges by email. Attentive and warm welcome. Complete tourist explanations. Map in French. Private onsen available for 1 hour per day. Possibility of bedroom with private WC Varied and refined home cooking. Explanations in English of the dishes. Possibility of western style breakfast but the Japanese style is definitely worth the detour.A nice stopover that enhanced our stay in Miyajima

Me and my husband spent a few nights here during our Honeymoon. The service was amazing! Surprises at every turn. I stayed here last year and I still remember their exceptional service very fondly. Staying here was the highlight of our trip.tldr;Pros: Room privacy is respected, private beautiful bath, attentive staff, English is available, amazing suggestions, beautiful property (historic design)Cons: Low door frames, no bath/shower in room (there is a bath schedule though!)--The Long Version Below--Pros:Privacy - the staff are very careful not to enter your room while you are there. We very much appreciated this.Private Bath - the bath was sento/onsen styled. It had beautiful warm brown stones and tile with worn wood style accents. Loved it. Plus, you reserved your hour for the bath the night before. It can be difficult to find a bath experience like this that’s both private and affordable (the bath does not cost extra).Attentive - the staff went above and beyond with preferences. If they have the capacity to do so, they try their best!! An example, our tea snacks. On our second morning, we were given Momiji snacks with our tea set. I loved it so much! I believe they may have overheard me and my husband talking about how much I loved the Momiji snack, the next morning, our tea snacks were Momiji again!!!English Ability – during our stay, we were able to communicate in English. Which was a huge help! (She even surprised us with writing in English upside down while apologizing for her poor English skills. I can’t even write upside down lol!)Suggestions – When we checked in, we were given a map with recommendations! It was amazing. Even including some off the beaten path things like a wonderful hike, and a small local restaurant.Beautiful Property – It was very historic feeling. I loved the woodwork, the warm feeling environment, and how surprisingly at home everything felt. If you reserved the room with the garden view, it felt amazing to have a relaxing cup of tea and overlook the garden.Cons:These cons weren’t thinks that bothered me at all but might be something someone would want to know.Shared Bath – although you get your own private time window, the bath is shared with all guests. It is cleaned between guests!! So, there are no worries about cleanliness.Low door frames – if you are taller, please be conscious to duck when going through door frames. The property is true to the historic design, down to the height of doorways.I highly recommend staying here!!!

We are very demanding in our reviews and I must say that this has been our best accommodation on our entire trip to Japan.Unbeatable quality-price. Great breakfast. Fantastic attention from the owner. Private onsen. Perfect location. Absolutely not a criticism. If you want to live the experience in a Ryokan, this is clearly the best place to enjoy it.

A very nice ryokan with great service. The dinner and breakfast were quite good, and overall was a very good price. There are two private baths that you book with a staff member upon check-in.Was initially afraid the walls would not be good for soundproofing, but ended up sleeping quite well without hearing any other guests (usually I am a very light sleeper)Very convenient location!

We had a wonderful stay at Ryoso, not to mention it was a treat to live in a house that's 300 years old. It's right off the main shopping street, popping with food (until 5pm) and literally a 5 min walk to the main attraction (the floating gate). We had the dinner and breakfast combo and it was way worth it! The room was also very great, minimalistic and clean with a view into the small garden. The service was great, very attentive and polite and they also arranged for a private bath! Could not recommend more!

Perfect, most friendly welcome. We corresponded by email for the reservation, several emails exchanged. Have dinner at the ryokan, delicately prepared and tasty dishes. You can privatize the onsen for 1 hour. Notifying them in advance is better to have more time slots.
