Casa Vimaya will be our hotel for all further stays in Bangkok. Everything was great, just small things as a tip for improvement: set up umbrellas at the pool loungers and prepare the fried eggs at the breakfast buffet better according to customer request.

From the category: “Wanted, but not able”, we find the Hotel Casa Vimaya in Bangkok. First of all, the advantages:+ good location (Giant Ibis bus company in the same building for trips to Siem Reap, Cambodia. 7-11 shop directly opposite and also close to attractions)+ nice designNow for the unpleasant things:- loud on the street side (street noise until late at night)- rancid view of the room. Mangy!- the room smelled funny.- Prices are generally way too high (minibar, transport to the airport 1300 THB!!)- Hygiene items such as slippers are used and will be made available to the next customer. They claim that they can be cleaned, but they are not washable. Greetings from athlete's foot. Such a disgusting thing! Since we throw away hygiene items or take them with us when they are still usable, we took the slippers with us. At checkout they asked where the slippers were and wanted to charge us 400 THB. The fact that they didn't ask what we did with the toilet paper is all.Prices like an exquisite hotel, but not even average. We stayed really well not far away for 14 days for half the price. Conclusion: Not recommended!

Perfect in every way!We stayed for 4 days in early September 2024. Absolutely fantastic experience, we did not encounter any of the negatives that some others have mentioned. The pictures on the website and booking are accurate, it was exactly what we had thought it was.Location: PERFECT, 5 min from Khaoson road and all of the craziness, but at least 4 minutes removed from all of the night noise. Perfectly safe neighborhood, I went running on the street every morning and we walked the streets up until late night. Food and drink all around, 7-11 directly across the street for bottled water, alcohol, sun screen, coffee etc…Riverside: Scenic muddy river with catfish and monitor lizards (little alligator looking guys)Room (King River view): Clean and spacious, nice shower and separate bath, very comfortable bed. Nespresso machine (4 pods) and two free waters every day.WiFi: No problem doing all of the work we needed to do, including video meetings. We connected 4 devices with no noticeable lag and works throughout the hotel including at the rooftop pool and bar.Breakfast: Delicious mix of Thai, asian and western foods, I discovered that I loved Thai green curry at breakfast and when I tried it on the street a block away it tasted the exact same with a little extra spice. (Someone did mention in their comments that breakfast was cold, I would say more like lukewarm, that is common to me for a buffet and was not an issue, but if you like piping hot buffet you may be left a little wanting).Pool and pool bar: There is something magical about going out all day and evening in hot humid Bangkok and coming home to a rooftop pool and bar that is cool and refreshing with a great breeze. You can hear the hum of the city below, but you are nicely ensconced in your little tourist paradise. The pool was never crowded when we were there. Drinks were more expensive than the street, but our tab for 3 nights was equivalent to $35. I can handle that. It would have been nice if it stayed open later than 9pm, especially since staff begin cleaning at 845 pm. Honestly, I don’t think staying open until 10 or 11 would be that much to ask, just a thought.Other guests: Funny mix of us middle aged professionals, and older retired couples vacationing, to 20 year old backpackers and everything in between. Everyone was cordial and friendly. (**Just an opinion, leave your petulant teenagers at home, don’t torture the poor dears with a vacation in Thailand. ;-)Overall, I wouldn’t have left this long and personal of a review if I hadn’t been incredibly impressed with everything at the hotel. With so many low cost options in the area, I agonized over the picking a location and couldn’t be happier with how it came out.Bangkok tips: Download the Bolt app and link your credit card to it for rides, you’ll save a bunch of money. Grab works as well, bolt is a little cheaper. Tipping 10 or 20 Baht is much appreciated, but not required. I kept a pocket full of 10 baht coins and 20 baht notes for tips when we were brought drinks and food and it kept us on the good side of bar and restaurant staff. Official taxi from the airport costs 600 baht, go downstairs to the official taxi stand and get a ticket. The ride back booked on bolt will probably only cost you 300 baht. Traffic is insane! If you need to be somewhere, give yourself plenty of time to get there. Try adding 15 minutes to the time that Bolt and grab cost you.Hope this helps and you enjoy your time in Bangkok!

The location is terrific. In just 5 minutes you can walk to Khaosan Road. The breakfast is excellent and varied. The breakfast room with a view of the canal is certainly the highlight of the hotel. We were very impressed by the friendliness and naturalness of the hotel staff. Everything is very clean and despite the central location, the rooms are quiet. We will definitely stay at Casa Vimaya Riverside again on our next stop in Bangkok.
