I do NOT recommend this hotel. It is a typical Japanese Ryokan Style hotel. I enjoyed the private hot spring and I also loved the Kaiseki course. The location is also great, quite close to the Gora station. However what upsetted me the most is the attitude of the owner. I can speak full fluent Japanese, but after I showed my passport , he refused to speak Japanese with me. Instead he used English that I could barely understand. I tried to explain to him that I could speak Japanese but he insisted, and also when I tried to ask him for help, he was not friendly at all.Luckily I didn't have much interaction with him, but the whole thing made me uncomfortable and definitely not gonna go back.Other than this, I noticed on my invoice it says "Foreigner Plan". As I booked with Expedia, out of curiosity I checked on Japanese website like Rakuten and realized I was charged double the price. I could say nothing about this but the whole thing doesn't sound reasonable to me.And also this hotel is a bit old and needs renovation.I will go back to Hakone but I will pick a different place to stay. This place definitely disappointed me because I have been always a fan of Japanese hospitality .

I don't want to use it again. The rice was delicious. The abalone, crab, and steak were all very luxurious and delicious. The breakfast was also delicious and just the right amount. However, the customer service was the worst.Even though I was sweating at the check-in, he didn't even say thank you for your hard work, and when I asked him for a glass of water first, he asked if he needed anything else to drink! I felt like I was angry. Also, the crab vinegar was lowered even though there was still crab left, and the plate with abalone left was almost lowered. Even though the next dish wasn't coming, the plates were kept being lowered and I felt like I was being rushed. It was a shame that I didn't have time to enjoy the delicious food. The teapot in the guest room already had tea leaves in it, soaked in a small amount of water. (I thought it might have been used by a customer from the previous day. I don't know for sure.)Even though I made a reservation for two people, there was only one cup in the sink.In the morning, perhaps by mistake, the employee unlocked the room without permission. When we came out, he ran off somewhere. I made a mistake, so I wish someone would have explained it to me instead of running away and disappearing.I don't want to use it again.I am very disappointed because I had booked this trip for a long time after reading the reviews and was looking forward to it.In addition, payment on site was cash only, so please be aware of this if you are planning to pay on site.

I went to a day trip hot spring for the first time, but the sulfur hot springs in Hakone had a strong smell. It was almost odorless, so I went there expecting a sulfur smell, but I was a little disappointed, but Gorama-san was a nice bath.

An accommodation that gave you a Japanese ryokan experience. However, transportation is inconvenient. It's difficult to get to the mountain range except by train or taxi, and you have to get off at the bus stop at the bottom of the mountain and hike up the stairs for about 20 minutes. And although the hotel is located on a main road, it is difficult for foreigners to find it because the signs are not in English. And the nice and delicious Japanese set meal was really great.

About 1 minute walk from Gora Station. There is no open-air bath, but you can soak in the cloudy white hot spring inside. The men's bath is large enough for about 5 people. The day trip to the hot springs costs 1,200 yen and comes with a white towel. For those looking for a day trip hot spring in Gora, why not consider this as one of your options?

This was the accommodation I chose after thinking a lot about where to stay in Hakone. In conclusion, it was a very good choice! I went with a friend, and my friend is a vegan and I am a vegan, so I knew it wouldn't work, but I sent a message in advance to ask if dinner and breakfast could be served vegan just in case. The hotel politely declined, saying they could not prepare vegan food since the menu had already been set. Of course, I understood because it was an unreasonable request. However, when I arrived at the accommodation, Gorakan prepared fruits, vegetables, and tofu separately. I was really very grateful. There were no vegan restaurants around Hakone, so I got takeout from Tokyo. I was worried about whether I would be able to eat dinner and breakfast because I packed it up in a hurry, but Gorakan did their best to prepare everything we could eat, including salad, sweet potatoes, fruits, tofu, natto, etc. I was so sorry but thankful!!The accommodation was also very nice. I went there with no expectations after just looking at the photos on Agoda. But why... I really liked the small indoor terrace with a table and chairs, the spaces separated by doors, and the bathhouse where you can enjoy a private bath (+ a cute little garden view)! It was clean and nice. The private hot spring was also very nice😌😌 I enjoyed the hot spring while looking at the night sky.The location was also perfect! There is an accommodation right in front of Gora Station. Therefore, it is very convenient to go to Sounzan. It was the perfect accommodation to enjoy Hakone! It was so good!!(+I hope the owner and employees of Gorakan make a lot of money~~!!)
