Service was impeccable by all the staff. The room and all shared spaces were immaculate, tidy, clean, and beautifully decorated. We were lucky enough to have booked a Japanese style room with our own private Onsen. The photos don't do it any justice. It was breathtaking.I would highly recommend taking a taxi or a bus up to the Ryokan as it can be quite challenging going up the hill with baggage. It's a short walk away from the station, so my partner and I were walking back and forth between the accommodation and the town multiple times a day. Some of the closing times for the restaurants aren't 100% correct on Google Maps, but you can't expect that from a small town.Plenty of conbinis along the way, with a Daily Yamazaki a minute walk up the hill, so you'll never be without food despite the awkward opening hours of eateries in the area.Bring cash. The majority of the places in this smaller town and other smaller towns in Japan are cash only.

Gorgeous place in Hakone, make sure to book with a hot tub bath. The staff were friendly, the hotel is clean and there is plenty of room. It's located a little up the hill so it can be a walk from the centre but otherwise worth it.

Convient location with peace and quiet. Only 6min bus away from Hakone Yumoto train station. We stored our big luggage at the train station so it’s easier to move around. The hot spring was superb and water temperature right on point!!Dinner and breakfast were paid separately from room price. It wasn’t the best food we had in Japan but worth the price (kinda). Dinner was sort of an Omakase but served in a rush. Often the next course was presented just when we started the current course… I wish the food & service quality would be better. Lastly, I loved how all guests were required to take off their shoes in the building. Very clean and comfy.

Cozy Japanese hotel near the river with a small public onsen. The service is great and the little dessert they offered is delicious 🥰Outside the hotel there’s a bus stop for mountain climbing. Only one minute’s walk. And it’s 15 minutes walk from the Hakone Yomoto station. Our room has a faint weird smell and we guess it may be the tatami mat. Also we don’t get any view from outside cause the window is covered with wooden fences.

After checking out I was not allowed to use the public bathroom. I have been to many hotels and once you check out they allow you to use the hotel facilities, it is the first time that has happened to me in my life. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Although the hotel has been renovated, it is well maintained and clean, making you feel at ease.A beauty hot spring containing a lot of metasilicic acid.I'm satisfied with the food too.I think this cost performance is amazing in Hakone Yumoto.

I would not recommend this Ryokan. We booked a family room with private bathroom for myself, husband and two kids travelling from London. The room had a slight fishy smell and the walls were flimsy and felt a little static caravan like.We were upset to find that the views from the windows in the room had been deliberately obscured by wooden panels that have been attached to the outside of the building. You can see this in my attached pictures. This was not clear when booking or from reading reviews - and will affect all rooms on one side of the building, essentially all the family rooms or rooms with en-suite bathroom. We learned that there was a previous negative review because the view on this side of the building was of a cemetery.Their response was to block the view completely with wooden panelling. The room felt really claustrophobic and boxed in. We expected it to be small and minimalist, but with next to no natural day light and what looks like bars at the windows it felt like a secure unit in a prison! We were unable to cancel our booking at short notice so reduced our planned stay and checked out after one night. There is complimentary tea and coffee in the lounge, but this is instant coffee from a paper cup. The Onsen was dated and surrounded by plastic bamboo on a balcony - the pictures don’t reflect this well.Bearing in mind that this place is extravagantly priced at £700 a night, there was nothing luxurious about it at all, and a huge/upsetting disappointment - we were looking forward to a treat. On the plus side, the staff were very helpful and the food was interesting.
