Overnight at the Hakone Gora Onsen National Lodging House. In 1945Built as a sanatorium for the National Police Agency,After that, in 1945,Started business as an inn,It became a national residence.Currently,Designated as a registered tangible cultural propertyIt's a building. In line with modern times,The interior isAlthough it has been extensively renovated,A craftsman stretched it from a ball and made it into a plate glass.A glass window that looks rugged,A pillar of black light that has aged,Hanging scrolls here and there, etc. There are many parts that remain the same. There is no bath in each room. The toilet is also shared,There are manyEverything has been completely renovated in a modern style. It has a shower toilet. In addition to unisex,There is also a women's toilet. The bath isBuilt in 2007Because it is a separate building made entirely of cypress,Using the elegant breezeway,Head to the hot spring building. When it comes to the most important thing, hot water,A turbid sulfate spring.Free-flowing water sourced from Owakudani. The smell of sulfur is not strong. The temperature is hot, soIt's perfect for the coming season. As for 👨,This was a hit 👍♨️.The dining room has chairs and tables. When you are ready,You will be notified via the in-house broadcast.Breakfast and dinner are delicatessen dishes. It's not flashy, butAs a 👨👩 in the early 50s,Happy content. The flavor is a bit strong, typical of the Kanto region. It goes well with Japanese sake.Sashimi,It would have been nice to have it as an option 🤔Another thing that left an impression on me was the rice.Because it is cooked in a gas pot,There were grains.Points to note are:The building is basically from the early Showa period, soNaturally, it is a traditional wooden structure. The next room,You can also hear surrounding sounds. Also, each staircaseIt's quite sudden, soIf you have a difficult time, please choose a room on the first floor. It's better if you choose. Also,Due to the small number of electrical outlets,Because of the bad location,Connect the three taps,From the 📱 charger,A long cord of about 3m,When you bring it,You can operate it while lying down.Gora Onsen isHot water drawn from OwakudaniMilky white hot spring (acidic-sulfate spring)Hot water drawn from SounzanHot spring (simple sulfur spring)Mainly,Simple hot springs, chloride springs,Hydrogen carbonate springs, etc.A wide variety of hot springs, can be enjoyed within the same areaIt is one of the best hot springs in Hakone. Therefore,An area with many high-end hotels that are quite expensive...Among them,Hakone Taiyo Sanso, a national lodging,Relatively reasonable,Enjoy hot springs and local cookingI think it's a good accommodation. The day we stayed,There were no young people, butFacilities due to old facilities,Don't make a fuss, etc.If you can keep within common sense,Even for young people,This is an inn that I would definitely recommend.(Personally, I might not want to tell you (lol))Not retro-like,You can enjoy the true Showa retro atmosphere.

Used after climbing Mt. Myojingatake. Walking from Miyagino Bridge is quite difficult. I highly recommend taking the bus bound for Gotemba Outlets from Miyaginobashi bus stop to Gora Station. It costs 1,200 yen for adults, and there are no lockers in the bath, but you can rent a locker with a key near the reception desk. The bath only includes rinse-in shampoo and body soap. There is a hair dryer. There are no other amenities. The water temperature was just right and the hot spring water was very nice. You must leave the building (probably) by 3:00 p.m.

Ah, this is something I don't want to tell anyone about anymore.I generally don't stay at hotels that don't have a toilet in the room (← people get up to use the toilet in the middle of the night), but this is a wonderful hotel where you don't have to worry about that. The room is old but clean, the toilet and sink are shared but it's clean too, and there's no open-air bath, but the indoor bath is great! Although the meals are not the luxurious meals you would find at a traditional Japanese inn, this is a must-see for those who would like to stay in an inn where their mother, who is an exceptionally good cook, will provide meals. We are already wanting to stay again, haha.Highly recommended for those who know how good this place is!

It's true that the building is old, but it's well kept and well-maintained.After all, the bath is good. It has been used beautifully, and soaking in the hot water will relax your body to the core. The food is not an overwhelming feast at a luxury inn, but is of sufficient quantity and quality. This time, the stew was especially delicious. It is an inn that you will want to visit often as it feels like a hot spring treatment.

I visited Hakone again this time.I found out that there is a national lodging house, so I made a reservation there. There are only two Western-style rooms, so you need to check to make sure you can make a reservation. Is the building pre-war? They can be seen everywhere, including in old buildings and designated as important cultural properties. There are low ceilings and lintels, and railings. There are scenes where you can tell that the building is from the prewar and immediate postwar period. The walls between the rooms next door are thin, so you can hear people talking, which is typical of the Showa era. There is no toilet or washroom inside the room. There are unisex toilets (3 private rooms), one for men and one for women. Depending on your room allocation, you will also know which toilets are closer or further away. The washroom is shared. It is a small tile shape that was popular in the Showa era.The cups in the bathroom are shared, but I didn't use them and instead used the teacup in the room. The dried tea in the room is also disposed of here. The room is simple and equipped with a TV, air purifier, and gas heater. It's natural and nice to have different brands of hangers! The mirror stand is from the Showa era. There is no hair dryer or additional amenities. The baths are fed by hot spring water, and the genders change at different times. The hot springs were very nice. The changing room has basic cosmetics and a hair dryer.Dinner and breakfast were simple meals, but they were more filling than they looked. The dining area has been moved to the first floor and there are plates in the room.Additional rice, miso soup, and drinks can be ordered using an extension phone. It would be a good idea to imagine an old-fashioned Showa era atmosphere or a spa. There are no fancy things,It also depends on whether you can accommodate people who seek hospitality and service, or who don't like communal washrooms, especially women. The building has been expanded, so the hallways are narrow and the stairs are steep.I would like to repeat this visit because it has good reviews for the content, price, Hakone Gora, near the station, and the building.

The Taisho retro bathroom with cloudy white water drawn from Owakudani is amazing❗You will be impressed by the view of Hakone's towering mountains from your room on the top floor. This is a spectacular view of Hakone.
