Stayed in the double room with private bathroom as two people. Reserved online on the main website which was fairly easy to navigate! Able to pay via credit card on site.Pros:(+) great value for the location of being downtown! there are so many food options around as well as multiple convenience stores around the corner.(+) the whole idea of the hostel is awesome! plenty of areas to mingle with others and they host jazz nights and other activities. the kitchen is awesome with plenty of utensils and the work/chill area is great.(+) not a full hotel so not a 24/7 front desk, but they are pretty available during the main hours. Seemed like most if not all the staff spoke English so easy to communicate as well!Cons:(-) room is INCREDIBLY small. No place to open up luggage or even just to sit. This is literally the main negative.

Lovely hostel that is more like a hotel. I stayed in a private double room with an en-suite bathroom and it was a really spacious room, which is great for JapanOnly negatives were that the room had a very strange smell (kind of sour!?), as did the AC, and that the bed was the hardest bed I’ve ever slept on which meant I didn’t really get much sleep. Read some reviews saying the bed was comfy but rooms super small and I seem to have the opposite experience so maybe some variation in rooms.. but the bed was like lying on a hard floor :(I’d like to give a 3.5/5 but will round up as it was cheaper than other options in the area

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Every detail is an absolute delight. We had a two person bedroom with shower and toilet and it was really high quality. The shared areas are extremely tasteful designed. And the kitchen was clean and had everything you needed. The staff were super friendly and extremely helpful. Especially Toshi. He gave us loads of tips for our Japan stay. 🫶

The room was excellent and spacious, but the water had a dirt taste to it. Still it wasn’t bad water just not tasty. The bed was super comfy too. Me and my girlfriend also did a zen workshop with a man named Zane. He was very pleasant and fun to be around. We did meditation, calligraphy and a tea ceremony. Would highly recommend his workshop and the hostel for its affordable price.

Clean hostel with tidy private rooms. These are quite small, but definitely worth it given the brand new amenities and excellent location. Highly recommend for your stay in Kyoto (we stayed 6 nights).

I visited the original Piece Hostel several years in Kyoto and was impressed then.. but this new location blew me away.Great setup, vibes and so many well thought out features. There’s a lot of care that goes into this place and service.Looking forward to staying at Piece Hostel again in the future.

Service and people at the front desk were very welcoming and nice! Easy check in and check out process. Workers spoke English very well and were able to help us transfer our luggage to the next hotel. I rated 3 stars because the room smelled bad and had to buy air freshener, also we found small ants around the sink area. The room is very small, no where to sit or open luggage. I guess you can’t expect too much for the price… will probably stay somewhere else and spend a bit more money next time

This place deserves more than 5 stars. It was a great place to stay, better than many hotels in Japan. The rooms were clean, the staff was the most helpful people I met in Japan and they speak great English. The hostel has a beautiful cafe, working rooms and a meeting room.Totally recommended!

Excellent hostel to stay at - feels very much like a hotel. All of the staff is very nice, polite, helpful and friendly. Rooms are decent and the location is 10/10. It’s easy to explore Kyoto from this location. They do host some events as well but it’s definitely not a party hostel.

This is an amazing hostel. The facilities are brilliant. Loved the lounge areas and kitchen and roof top area. They do a zen workshop on Saturday nights which is well worth booking. …
