The location is really good. However, dust floats around in the room and it makes your eyes feel itchy. Additionally, there is no staff, so it is difficult to ask questions and have to check in and check out on your own. It's true that I made a reservation because I wanted to feel this atmosphere, but it seems difficult to go because the bathroom is outside and privacy is not properly maintained. If you are not familiar with this type of place and just want to feel the atmosphere and find romance, do not make a reservation. The refrigerator is poor and the air conditioner doesn't work properly, so it dies in the summer.

We would recommend if U like to experience living in a 100years old vintage style Japanese house... N the location just next to the subway n 15mins away from the Gion districtDue to the wooden structure, you hear every movement from upstairs or the staircase, going up n down, literally U would hear the next door guests too due to the very thin "paper" wall...There is only one shower, and two toilets in the little courtyard... everything was kept as clean as possible and staff seemed to be nice, we only saw them coincidentally sitting there... You get your key in a box and have no room service, so you barely see anyone, U were all left by Urself but it is cleaned and trash is taken out daily.... They do provide limited porridge on some mornings thou...The only hassle is to go up n down to the toilet, esp in the middle of the night...

Alright. The service is limited and everything is automated. But if you want to live the experience of a traditional waterfall, it is perfect

Unfortunately, even if you are used to hostels, a traditional building like that will always be louder.Due to the wooden structure, you hear every movement from upstairs or the staircase. We heard our neighbours talk at ungodly hours, you hear them watching videos on their phones, even literally hear them fart. Unfortunately, we stayed a whole week and for the first half we had neighbours who still talked and moved around until past 1am and then woke up before 7am. We never had a night of peaceful sleep.Hence I really only can recommend it for two days maximum, if you really want to try a traditional place. We had a heated kotatsu, which was a nice experience I've never had before. But because of this, the two futons almost didn't fit the room. There is only one shower, and two toilets in the little courtyard, though the downstairs room has its own toilet and sink. The little common room is nice. I also think everything was kept as clean as possible and staff seemed to be nice, we only saw them coincidentally at checkout tho. You get your key in a box and have no room service (that I know of), so you barely see anyone, but it is cleaned and trash is taken out daily.

The stairs are a bit too steep, and the bathroom and toilet are on the first floor. The furnishings and layout are in traditional Japanese style, elegant and Zen-like.

The location is pretty good, coming from the train station, you can go there directly with a bus, without having to walk a lot.It also looks really nice when you get there, the way you imagine a traditional hotel to look like.BUT! First of all it is pretty cold, which is fine when you are under the Kotatsu, but you have to get out eventually and I am freezing.I have also gotten used to having pyjamas and towels provided by the hotel, which is not the case for this place. (You can rent some tho, if they are available)The rooms are really tiny, so we didn't even know where to place our beds properly. And it is increddibly noisy. Since the walls are so thin, you can actually hear your neighbor fart. If they are not trying to be quiet, like ours, it is quite the nuisance. For a 1-2 day stay, this might me interesting to experience. But having to stay for 6? I am considering choosing another hotel.

I think I must have booked the wrong room. The floor of the room on the second floor where it stopped was tilted, and it seemed like the semicircular canals were out of order. As expected, the next morning I felt unwell, so I decided to leave Kyoto and make my way home. Immediately hospitalized, what other impressions should I have?

Cozy stay in a historic building in a great location. There are some quirks, like extremely steep stairs (if you’re old or have problems with stairs do not book here) and you do need to be quiet. I thought it was very clean, the bed was fairly comfortable, and it was a great price. Would recommend
