The host is very nice, she gave us a tour of the hostel and tips for Kyoto.The location is good if you want to explore Kyoto, especially the north part. But it is still a little bit far from the CBD.The main issue was the bedroom, the AC was broken and it was hot. Also the beds move and creak a lot.

It was my 4th time to Kyoto and I had seen the main attractions so what I was most interested in was the lower price. I stayed 8 nights and it turned out to be a very good choice. There is a bus 100 meters away (Hirosawa Goshonouchicho stop) that takes you to various train stations. Ask the owner (Kaori) for details. He was waiting for me with open arms and a welcome gift. I immediately felt like I was at home. I was lucky because I stayed in C4 which was the biggest space I have come across in similar accommodations!Although there is a toilet and a bathroom respectively for men and women, they are always clean.It does not have a laundromat, but there is a coin laundry on the same street.There is also a Family Mart.The kitchen is a very warm place where one can heat up food or cook and make new friends.Coffee and tea are provided free of charge.In the surrounding area there are many tourist destinations eg Arashiyama bamboo forest, Adashino Shrine, the amazing music box museum "The Kyoto Arashiyama Orgel museum" don't miss it!! And a bunch of others.Kaori san irreplaceable! Friendly, helpful and always ready to do whatever you ask. We even did Japanese and English lessons!! I thank her for helping me with the suitcase and for taking me to the station in the end.

It was a good place to walk to near Arashiyama. Convenience stores and family restaurants are also nearby.

Far from the center but comfortable enough to spend a night or more depending on what your plans are. I decided to stay here because I wanted to visit the west side of Kyoto so I thought it was a good deal even though they increased the price the day I booked so not the best of deals, no regrets though.

There is a telephone going off all day and morning. You can't get any sleep. Very frustrating trying to rest. I don't recommend staying here.1 Shower and they charge you 1500 yen for every hour you stay longer than the 10am check out. Every other hostel let's you check out at 11am normally and without penalties.
