We stayed during our honeymoon — and it was a truly exceptional experience. The staff at the front desk — and throughout the hotel — were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. To celebrate our honeymoon, they treated us to some of the best cocktails we had in Japan — made with an exceptional gin — in their stylish lounge. The room itself was fantastic — unique layout, an amazing bathtub/shower room, and luxuries you’d expect from a high-end Japanese hotel, like fun toiletries. What really stood out was the Bang & Olufsen speaker in the room, which added to the experience. The hotel’s location was perfect for us. It’s not in the middle of a busy tourist area, so it was peaceful and quiet — but still close to everything we needed. Convenient bus stops were nearby, and we had no trouble getting around. Being right across from Nijo Castle was a special treat — it’s a beautiful and unique spot that doesn’t attract the usual tourist crowds, so we really enjoyed the serene atmosphere. We also loved the little extras — like being able to borrow books from the lobby’s library — the selection was fun and diverse. If we stayed again, we’d definitely go for a room with a patio. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a unique and peaceful stay in Kyoto!

My husband and I stayed at the Crown Plaza right next door to the Hotel Canata. We went to the Canata bar the first night and met Angel and Soro…they were both beyond fabulous!  …

A wonderful small, boutique hotel with a lovely bar/lobby and view to Nijo Castle. We received wonderful service, especially with dining reservations, which can be challenging for tourists. Special thanks to Yuuka for all her help (I only wish I had discovered our shared Filipino connection earlier!). Highly recommend this hotel.

My favourite hotel stay in Japan. The rooms are very modern and comfortable and have netflix on the tv. The staff are very professional. There was a huge bath which we made use of every night. There was a lot of hidden gem restaurants nearby. The location is a bit further out so you will need to walk about 30 minutes to the main shopping area or market, but it's right across from Nijo castle. Also our shower drain was clogged which flooded the floor, they did try to fix it and improved it but not fully. They offered another room but it was twin instead of double and I was unfortunately unwell and so we didn't want to move.I would gladly stay here again.

It was very clean, the location was good, and the bathroom was large. However, it was disappointing that the lighting in the room was dark. Still, I had a really good rest. I want to use it again next time
