I had a very pleasant experience staying here during my trip to Kyoto. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. The hotel was quiet, with two doors separating the common area from the bedrooms, which made it easy to relax. The personal air conditioning and free wifi were also a huge plus. The kitchen was spacious enough for multiple guests to cook at the same time, which was a nice feature. The location was also convenient, right behind a 24-hour Family Mart, for buying groceries. There are several restaurants nearby offering options like okonomiyaki, ramen, and a sushi conveyor, so you may not find yourself using the kitchen often. One thing to note is that the location is not in "downtown" Kyoto. There is, however, a bus stop less than a minutes walk that goes directly to Kyoto station, Kyoto aquarium, and a few other places. Based on the number of people in downtown Kyoto, I greatly preferred staying a little outside of everything and taking the bus each day.The entire place was extremely clean, and the single-person rooms were the most spacious I stayed in during my time in Japan. If you're looking for a comfortable, quiet, and clean place with friendly owners, this is a solid choice.

Kyoto- ah smell the beauty and the scenery … in a city full of tourists it’s endearing to stay somewhere that feels like home !!Masa and Saki are such great hosts with care and flair. They go a great job and their host skills are wonderful. We loved meeting their children, the other guests and the local faces in this neighbourhood. Can’t wait to return :)))

I originally had booked to stay three nights but found it was an easy place to hang out, so I extended for another three nights. Although a little bit away from the city centre, the hostel is a quick bus ride to most of sights and easy access to the train stations. The bus stop is a minute’s walk from the door. There’s two really good supermarkets the same distance and as Fujitaya has an excellent kitchen and cooking facilities, I found this a great option for eating cheaply and healthily.Saki and Masa and their two little boys are lovely hosts, helpful and respectful of their guests. The place immaculately clean and the common areas feel like a home away from home.

The owner is very kind. They will give you detailed information about the surrounding area. There is a bath shop nearby, which is convenient. There was a very delicious okonomiyaki restaurant called Ajihei nearby.

Seeing very good reviews from Japanese people, I wanted to book a room to experience the obon holiday. The family and both young children were very excited to experience the service. However, the whole family contracted corona 2 days before arriving at the hotel and one day before checking in, my two small children had high fevers, so the whole family canceled this trip. When calling the hotel, the staff's attitude was very discriminatory even though I could communicate well in Japanese. Turn off the phone suddenly. When I called back, they said they were talking to other guests and didn't have time to talk to us. And continued to turn off the phone before I could say anything. I called back 50 times and they finally picked up the phone but it continued to turn off like before. And the last time they said the customer was in trouble and asked to contact the police. It's hard for me to understand their behavior. I asked to complain but they didn't give me a phone number where I could complain.A really bad experience. I was planning to come back on my next vacation but that will probably never happen.

I called to cancel for free because I couldn't call due to the coronavirus, but the staff's response to the phone was really bad! Service is negative! Is it impossible to find a hotel like that in a tourist spot in Kyoto? Are you saying that customers are already bothering you? Is the head of the staff okay? You idiot! Did you suddenly hang up on the customer? I wish the staff members who said that would quit! Are you kidding? It was really bad!
