I stayed there because I was attracted to the plan that said I could eat breakfast at Heian Shrine, but to be honest, the breakfast was a bit disappointing.(After several types of bread are served, sausages and other items are brought out, and they are served at a time lag that makes you think the bread is all you need for a moment, so there are some problems with the timing and arrangement of the offerings.)What's more, I thought there were ticks in the bed, and the next day I noticed multiple bite marks (itching) on my legs, so I thought there were no ticks. It's a shame because the room itself was very nice.

Stayed here with 3 people including a 4 year old child. The room was spacious and the bath overlooking the courtyard was great!Since there was no one else staying, the receptionist played with my child and let me see other rooms. Thank you very much for your consideration.Staying here made Kyoto a memorable experience. We had dinner at Akagane Resort, which is part of the same chain.Breakfast at Heian Shrine the next morning was also amazing.I also wanted to stay at other VMG group hotels.

I feel like there’s not enough international guests vloging/blogging about this hotel for me to understand how amazing it is until I came (so glad I felt adventurous and booked a hotel no influencer has ever told me about) I feel like I should explain how nice it is in details.1. Breakfast is at Heian-jingu event hall, their wedding venue, you get free taxi rides back and forth.2. The event hall has a floor glass window viewing Jinggu garden’s most beautiful bridge which you actually cannot see while walking in Hei-an Jingu, because you will be on the bridge ( the other spot inside the gardens that you can view the bridge from is too far away from the bridge). Personally I believe the best view of the entire Heian Jingu gardens is from this event hall. This event hall is open to public for afternoon tea, but from what I can tell on their website it’s hard to reserve a spot. So you are guaranteed to a very VIP restaurant/view if you stay at this hotel.3. You get free tickets to see Heian-jingu, you can have a nice walk after breakfast and come back here to wait for your taxi back to the hotel.4. During booking, the hotel very honestly alert guests about the fact that it is an old building, so I was surprised by how new all the furnitures and amenities were. I wouldn’t know it’s an old building if they didn’t tell me.5. All the paper lanterns in the rooms are actually adjustable lamps. You can dim them to a dimness that I didn’t think was possible.6. I wasn’t too worried about the sound insulation (they alert you about it during booking) because they have only 3 rooms and no children’s amenities, so I thought “there can’t be much noise”. I was right. There wasn’t any.7. Lady at breakfast found my portable hairbrush and returned it to me after I toured heian jingu. Gentleman at the hotel’s lobby thought of lending us umbrellas when we didn’t even think of it. Lots of great examples of impeccable service. I worried a bit about whether it would be inconvenient to have breakfast in another location, but it was so smooth and a total pleasure. The people at the gate knew we were there for breakfast and took us exactly where we needed to go.I don’t remember how I found this hotel, I think I just clicked around on google map in the Higashiyama area and thought “why does this hotel say it’s 3 stars? It looks 5 stars. “ Now that I’ve stayed here I can safely say that it feels very 5 stars, the price point is justified.

I stayed with my family of 4.Although it was a very nice inn, I felt that it was not a place for families to come with their children! There wasn't a single bad thing, but there weren't many nice things that stood out considering the price, so I gave this rating! The location was very good 🙆‍♀️

I stayed in the RYOUI building. The breakfast was luxurious and I was able to eat it at Heian Shrine. I was able to travel comfortably by taxi. Check-out was late at 12:00, so I was able to relax in my room after dinner.
