Wonderful insight into Japanese culture – highly recommended! My stay at Kamuroan Guesthouse in Kyoto was a really nice experience that I can recommend to every traveler. Compared to the hostels I've stayed in before (which were also good), here I had the special feeling of being part of a Japanese family for a few days. That made the stay special for me.Kamuroan's friendly and warm tour gave me an insight into the Japanese way of life. What was particularly nice was that I was allowed to wear a kimono, which made me feel like I was immersing myself deeper in the culture. The accommodation was very clean and I slept really well there. If you are looking for authentic, friendly and warm accommodation in Kyoto, where you can do more than just stay overnight and take a piece of Japanese culture with you, I can highly recommend Kamuroan.Thank you for the great time!

What a perfect ryokan stay in Kyoto! I could not have had a better experience and have only the highest praise for Kamuroan. Okami-san is an incredibly gracious host that genuinely cares about her guests and their experience. …

I visited at the end of April and am finally leaving a review. This is a highly recommended guesthouse in Kyoto! The owner was very kind and always communicated in a friendly manner, so I was very grateful. The breakfast they prepared for me like a Japanese home-cooked meal every day was so delicious that I always ate it all, and when I told them I was going on a long trip on the Shinkansen, they even brought me rice balls. Let’s make great memories in Kyoto! I definitely want to go again next time I come to Kyoto.I visited at the end of April and just now writing a review. This is the most highly recommended guesthouse in Kyoto! The owner was so kind and always communicated with me so sweetly, and I was so grateful. The Japanese home-style breakfast every day was so delicious that I always ate it all, and when I told her I was going to go far away by Shinkansen, she even wrapped rice balls for me. I made so many good memories in Kyoto, and I will definitely go back next time I come to Kyoto.

This is a guesthouse that I highly recommend so much that I want to give it 6 stars. If you want to experience the atmosphere and lifestyle of a typical Japanese home, there is no better accommodation than this :) I felt comfortable as if I was staying at my own home for 3 days. During my stay, they provided me with snacks and hot packs, and even when I needed to go to the dentist urgently while I was away, they made a reservation over the phone and accompanied me in person. I really don't know how to express my gratitude... I will definitely come back next time I go to Kyoto!

This is a strong guesthouse run by a spiritual landlady. The spirit of hospitality is too strong, so I don't recommend it to people who don't like being intruded on or who don't want people to invade their private areas.I can only rate the location, interior decoration, and food.It seems like they only show the good reviews out of the reviews they have received for various services, so this review may also be deleted.(Added on February 25, '24)I never noticed your reply until now.I could have ignored it, but I'd like to add it.This is a calm and objective evaluation, and does not constitute slander, and the same is true of other evaluations, and I am not denying everything at all.Not only did you not take it seriously, but you brought up other people's evaluations that have nothing to do with you, and you made judgments about myself that were completely off base. The way you changed the subject was so extreme that, to be honest, it made me laugh. You are going through things that spiritual people should not do.Is it okay for your reply to be seen by people all over the world? You said, ``The hurt I gave you will come back to me as a hurt.''Well then, just as you said, I will also judge you.I'm the "visible" type.Didn't you get a good rating for your honest and long reply?Even though the company has been in business for many years, there is an unnatural bias in the number of evaluations and the content of the evaluations, so I guess that's why.It would be impossible in any world for a product to have almost the highest ratings in every review.Ordinary statistics should be a bar graph with a staircase shape going up from 1 to 5 or a mountain shape with the peak around 3.There are many Sakura customers who have given the highest rating with around 1 review. Are you asking your customers for discounts or other rewards? This is a clear violation of Google's terms.I also looked at your website, but you probably went through a lot of trouble before opening your business, and by relying on spirituality you increased your self-affirmation and maintained your balance. However, this only means that it is ``what suits you,'' and it is different from imposing it on others. They say, ``Even close friends should be polite.''It is said that ``customers are like family,'' but if even family members cannot accept the sense of distance, the relationship will fail, and customers are not family in the first place.Fundamentally, do you like to serve others and are willing to sacrifice yourself, which you consider to be a virtue?Do you have any intention of recreating the "ideal family image that never came true"?This has nothing to do with me, and since I am a sole proprietor, I am of course free to do as I please, but as a result of deviating from common sense and mixing public and private life, I hope the government does not give me any guidance.

I really had an awesome stay at the Kamuroan Hotel. It's centrally located near the Kiyomizu-dera shrine, it's clean and quite at nighttime and the owners (wife and her husband) are super friendly. They will make sure you feel comfortable, and even though their English is not the best (it's rather a mixture of English and Japanese haha), they explained to me some aspects of Japanese culture and how to behave in a traditional Ryokan, you can even wear a traditional Japanese dress. Also the breakfast prepared by the wife is superb! If you really want to experience some traditional Japanese accommodation, I can highly recommend staying at Kamuroan hotel!

This was such a charming part of my trip in Kyoto. I feel fortunate that I happened to stumble onto this place when looking for accommodations in Kyoto. It was better than a hostel because hostels often feel like you’re sharing a dorm with several others, whereas Kamuroan feels more like you’re staying with your asian auntie who lives in Kyoto. I was hesitant about the shared bathroom situation, but it was not a problem at all since again, it feels more like you’re staying with family and less like you’re sharing a dorm bathroom. The breakfast in the morning was enough to keep me full through dinner. The hospitality was amazing. Okami-san went out of her way to make us nabe and sushi hand rolls (not typically breakfast food) so we could try other aspects of Japanese home cooking during our stay. The room was decorated with traditional Japanese materials and was a comfortable place to stay and rest in the evenings. There were multiple written signs and information available in the room about different aspects of Japanese culture, and activities in Kyoto. It is located near city bus stops that make it easy to travel to Kyoto station for day trips. There are several beautiful temples within 10-15 minutes walking distance away. Family Mart is also right there, which is useful for many reasons. I was sad to leave Kamuroan at the end of my visit in Kyoto, but I am grateful I got to experience it. Okini, Kamuroan!

The hostress has done a great job providing a traditional Kyoto hotel stay experience to guests. I was greeted with a warm reminder even before checking in that the weather might be wet during my planned days in Kyoto. Unlike the modern hotel check in experience I am used to, the hostress spent quite some time learning about myself and my stay preferences so that all guests including me who share this house can have a wonderful stay. The hostress was also taking time introducing Japanese culture while making guests Matcha. The breakfast Kamuroan offers is a must try. I was amazed by the diversity and delicate dishes the hostress prepared on the table. Unfortunately I was able to eat all and I still feel sorry because the hostress must have been spending a lot of time picking the ingredient and cooking! The hostress also helped me call a taxi when my uber did not work and saw me off until the cab turned to a lane she could no further see. I also love the birthday gift the hostress left in my room, very thoughtful and delicious! Overall, besides the perfect location, beautiful traditional Japanese house, the service itself is a great culture experience that you just can't miss.

I visited for the first time in a year to coincide with the 2023 Gion Festival. Once again, I would like to thank the landlady and the host for their warm hospitality like family. The welcome drink was the shiso juice and Nankoume, which was great. For breakfast, as always, there are rows and rows of small plates prepared by the proprietress (mainly vegetables). Grilled eggplant with white miso soup or black rice? The rice was also delicious. It had become. I'm full. I love the wonderful hospitality and the location, where you can take a morning walk to Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Shrine, as well as walk to Gion and Miyagawa-cho. Although the sightseeing was very hot, it was a fun trip to Kyoto. thank you very much.In early December 2021, my husband and I took care of him as the coronavirus had subsided. The hostess and host's hospitality is wonderful, and it's a wonderful inn that feels like your parents' home in Kyoto. My wife and I had been here twice before the coronavirus outbreak, and I had been there once, and I was very happy to be able to meet the landlady and her husband for the first time in a while. This time we were the only ones and it was quiet. The autumn leaves in Kyoto were nearing the end, but I was able to see bright red autumn leaves at Hokyoin Temple, which was recommended by my husband. Thank you very much.I look forward to chatting with you every time. Breakfast consisted of many small plates with delicious side dishes. After a short service, I was so full that I couldn't eat anymore (lol). It was a really fun trip to Kyoto. Sorry to bother you again. thank you very much. Thank you.
