Good and beautiful Ryokan near several temples and walking distance from gion neighbourhood. Owners are nice and speak English. Be aware that it is traditional style Ryokan so the bathroom are shared with other guest, sometimes up to four people at the same time. If you don't mind that then I recommend this place.

I made a reservation for a small kaiseki plan. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. It's a bit inconvenient as the toilet and bath are shared. The bath was in a large public bath and the temperature of the bathtub was so hot that I couldn't get enough water...It's a small amount, but it's still this much.I think it's perfect for womenAlthough it is an old building, it is well kept and the staff are nice.It was 22,000 yen for 2 people, including 1 night and 2 meals.

It is very convenient to go to Kiyomizu-dera Temple as it is close to Kiyomizu Gojo Station. The food is also very good and it is worth staying if you are staying in Kyoto. However, since it is an old-fashioned inn with no elevator, it is difficult for people with walking disabilities. I would like to use it again.

This inn was honestly the worst ever. What surprised me the most was that when I checked out, a man who seemed to be the owner was waiting at the place where I thought he was paying the bill, while he was seeing off another customer. The door to the restaurant was slightly open across from the restaurant, and I could see inside a little from here, so I closed the door without saying anything. I think the staff at a normal inn would just say, ``Please wait a little while checking out,'' and then close the door, but they just closed the door without saying anything... What kind of training do the staff here have? I can't help but wonder if this is the case (lol). Even if it was a part-time job for a college student, this would not be acceptable. The price of 20,000 yen for 1 night and 2 days for this kind of treatment is far too high. With this kind of hospitality, I think it's appropriate to set the price below 10,000 yen, even if it includes two meals.

I'm disappointed in many ways. I had heard that the building was old, but it was even older than I had imagined. Perhaps the doors were thin, but every time someone passed by in the hallway, I could hear voices, footsteps, and the sound of doors opening, which made me feel very anxious and uncomfortable. (←This is the number one negative point) Even when I'm watching a video with earphones on, I can still hear the sound, and even the opening and closing of a door in a nearby room can cause my room to shake. Is there a hit or miss in the room, or are all the other rooms like this? The room smelled like an old house. Also, I was disappointed that my room had no view even if I opened the window. Also, it is inconvenient if there is no toilet or sink in the room. It's fine if you don't mind. The food was delicious. However, he came into the room much earlier than the scheduled time, and even though I was still eating and I hadn't called, he came into the room without permission and tried to clean up, which makes no sense. How is the staff being trained? Is it normal for this inn to not follow what they say? It seemed like everyone was working part-time for college students...At breakfast time, I was surprised to hear the sound of a vacuum cleaner coming from a nearby room, even though it was only around 9am. I ate while listening to the sound of the vacuum cleaner. Check-out is at 10am, so shouldn't you at least vacuum after that?I felt restless, or rather, unable to calm down overall. The service and price don't match up at all. 100% no repeats.

We reserved a room here for 3 adults and 1 baby. We arrived early to drop off our luggage and change our baby's diaper after a short sightseeing trip. The staff was very accomodating of our request to use their facilities before check-in time.Pros1. The ryokan has a 50+ year feel, a perfect image of old Kyoto if thats what you're into.2.Price. In comparison to other accomodation nearby, near unbeatable. Otherwise it's capsule hotels if you want anything more cheaper3.Location. located between a train station and kiyomizu-dera. 10mins walk to Gion-Shijo area. Very good.4.Food. we have religious diet restrictions. We informed them on our check-in for our add-on dinner + breakfast. The staff was very accommodating and adjusted our meals accordingly. Besides that, we think their food very delicious especially considering the price. Traditional Japanese style kaiseki meals in the meal hall.Cons1. Facilities. Toilets are on sharing basis but that's expected of an oldstyle ryokan. Unfortunately it's definitely visible that the ryokan is old and in need of repairs/renovation. The floors are squeaky but they provide earplugs for sensitive sleepers. I write this to inform others but condition of the building definately make you feel like you're back 100years in old kyoto. The sento shower halls are new though.I'm writing this lengthy review for the place because I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and a bit worried that customers are not coming their way after the pandemic. Please consider this place on your next stay in Kyoto.

The Kyoto style sukiyaki was absolutely delicious. The beef was beautifully marbled and had a beautiful red color. It was a bit small if there was one adult and one male and one female. The breakfast was also luxurious. This made me feel full. They responded to my selfish requests, such as taking a bath late at night.Although it is an old building, the staff were friendly and nice.
