A family-run pleasant place in the middle of the woods. Known for gastrointestinal cures for generations. Due to having been overseas, some English is spoken.

Wonderful location to experience spring time in the mountains near to Sendai. Great accommodation and cuisine, but onsen experience could be improved. …

This is an inn that I have been interested in for a long time, but was hesitant to visit due to two reasons: the number of negative reviews, and the distance. My wife, who is easily influenced by comments, didn't go there, so I drove there by myself from Tokyo to find out the truth. lolMy conclusion is that I recommend it.First, the building. A modern setting with a fireplace located deep in the mountains where there is no cell phone signal. The interior is also nice. I was able to spend a comfortable time without any problems with the water supply in the room. If I had to pick a drawback, it would be that the wallpaper was torn and had stains. However, the cleaning was thorough. The outside of the entrance looks pretty bare, but most inns deep in the mountains are like this. It's not a resort.Next is the meal. I was very satisfied both in the morning and in the evening. There's nothing weird about it, it's a menu that you can feel at ease with, and the seasoning is good. It was just the right amount for me, my 60th birthday. I have eaten many different kinds of food both domestically and internationally, so I don't think I have a sense of taste. To be honest, it was delicious. The table arrangement in the dining room also took into account the fact that I was staying alone, and they placed me in a quiet space with a partition from other people staying there. The essential hot spring. I don't think anyone would complain about the quality of this spring. The bathtub and changing area were also clean. The access to the private open-air bath was completely exposed to the construction site, but it didn't bother me as it was a mountain inn. However, there is an undeniable gap between it and the wonderful buildings. Finally, about customer service. From check-in to check-out, it was warm and had a good sense of distance. If you are looking for the hospitality of a resort hotel, it is better to choose such an accommodation.Nowadays, it has become rare to find a facility that costs less than 20,000 yen and offers free-flowing hot springs, not luxurious but decent food, and a place where you can stay with peace of mind.Considering the weak communication environment, torn wallpaper, and access to the private open-air bath, I can't give it a 5 star rating, but I would give it a 4.5 star rating.

I was able to enjoy a relaxing hot spring in the middle of nature in a one-story house surrounded by a large river and forest.Although the smell is not strong, the hot springs are very hot and will make your body feel smooth. In the common room, there is a large bookshelf with a rich collection of books that you can read freely, and the fireplace in the center and shelves made of wood give the room a warm feeling. At the end of the meal, you are invited to the common room, you can listen to CDs by Satie and Stan Getz in the room, and of course the hot springs are very nice, but the inn also has a lot of details. I would definitely like to visit during the snowy season.

Although it is a quiet and quiet inn deep in the mountains, the rooms are very comfortable and easy to use without disrupting the atmosphere.A collection of essays called ``Living in the Passage'', which the landlady had published in a magazine for a long time, was on the table in the room, welcoming me. It touched my heart to feel the change of the four seasons at Tsutsu Onsen, along with the dignified kindness of the author. I was able to find delicious food, hot springs, tranquility, and good accommodation that didn't put a strain on my body.

This is a hidden hot spring in the mountains, a 1.5 hour bus ride from Sendai Station.I enjoyed the large public bath, private open-air bath, and bath in my room. It's out of range except for the common room, so it's perfect for a digital detox!

I visited last weekend for the first time in 5 years. As usual, we were welcomed by the landlady and enjoyed the nature and quiet environment of Zao to the fullest. It was a pleasant experience, especially since it has been such a noisy time. I'm sure there were some difficult times during the three-year coronavirus period. The hot springs from Zao soaked into my body and I was able to relax. I plan to visit again.

It's located well above Togatta Onsen, and you go down a valley from the Echo Line, so if it's snowing, you'll need a 4WD to get back. This is a location that cannot be climbed. There was 50cm of snow the day before I went, so the open-air bath with a snowy view was great. The lobby also has a wood burning stove and original wooden table and chairs, making it a great place to enjoy a drink while looking out.The food tastes like local country cuisine.

I like that it's not typical hot spring hotel cuisine. It's served as a set meal like a set meal restaurant, but that's good.Easy to understand tasteImoni is super deliciousIce deliciousBest cold brew coffee
