Beautiful view. Good to provide support for this town hit by the tsunami. Service very attentive and quick. Bellhop did not understand that we had luggage to unload but that was a combination of communication erros and not the fault of the bellhop. Parking was limited. Pool was very nice. View from the onsen was fantastic!

The Kanyo hotel staff went out of their way to make it a memorable stay. The view is spectacular and to see the sunrise from the outdoor hot springs was breathtaking.|Dinner menu offered a great variety of the locally grown vegetables and the freshly caught sea foods.

The Kanyo Hotel is a lovely, old style Japanese traditional hotel, offering Japanese tatami mat sleeping configurations as well as western bed options as well. Opt for the traditional tatami beds for a great experience. …

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted very politely by the hotel staff, which was very nice. Upon entering the hotel there was a strong smell of cigarettes everywhere. The room was so dusty, that I could not sleep for the entire night. The smell was so awful, old and dusty. The table and room was dusty. There were grey hairs in my yukata, which was particularly disgusting. The next morning it was so hot in the room, and there was no air conditioning. Combined with how dusty the room was, I was ready to just go home. The dinner was just okay - seaweed flavoured jelly is not really what I’d call good food tho. However, the sashimi and cooked fish was delicious.Breakfast was dry and mostly inedible. A very strange atmosphere. The onsen was the saving grace of this place. If it weren’t for the onsen, which was quite wonderful, I wouldn’t recommend this anyone.

Be prepared for a huge, touristy hotel. If you prefer small ryokans with personal touch services, this place isnt for you. Most of their customers come from tour groups. …

Beautifully well-maintained hotel with one of the best outdoor hotspring views of the sea. The seagulls lining outside our room window were delightful companions. Hotel provides free shuttle transport both directions from Sendai station but you need to notify them ahead of your stay. Very value for money, especially if you book early.
