Wow! I’m actually gutted we have to leave after 2 nights. Traditional Japanese townhouse that is nicely located for transport in Kyoto. The host (I wish I knew her name) is the best host I’ve ever stayed with. So kind and willing to go above and beyond with helping her guests. Did our laundry, made our beds and looked after us without having to do so. Also helped with lot recommendations and other places that I’m travelling. Genuinely thank you so much!!! Highly highly recommend.

If you want an authentic machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse) experience, you can't go wrong here. Not restored to some deluxe standard, but a modernized machiya that was lived in. The host is very kind, welcoming and informative. Her English is excellent. Location is very quiet on one of Kyoto's tiny residential side streets, yet just a couple minutes walk from subway/bus connections, plus plenty of stores, restaurants, etc. I just wish we had arranged to stay in the Kyoto area longer - a great place to "set up camp" in.

Since it's a detached house, you can use it freely with your family and don't have to worry about other people. It's very cheap since it's just for accommodation.
