Although it is conveniently located close to downtown Shijo and within walking distance of Nishiki Market and Gion, the surrounding area is residential so it is very quiet and the location is perfect. The room and bath were not as great as I had imagined from the photo, but the room was still spacious and comfortable.I noticed that there was no hot water in the bath at first and that I had to turn on the water heater later, so it would have been nice if they could have explained this to me at check-in. But overall it was a comfortable stay.

wonderful ryokan, wide and spacious w excellent amenities and great atmosphere. the staff at the check-in place were very helpful and explained everything thoroughly. great for trips w 4 or more people, and the location is excellent, close to nishiki market but still in a neighborhood that’s quiet and peaceful at night.would say that the stairs r very steep and sort of slippery, not recommended for small kids or the elderly

The house clean and well decorated. The location was right on point. We were close enough to the Nishiki market and there were plenty of dining options around us. The check-in was easy and they took out luggage to our house, leaving us free time to wander around the city. Also, we booked for our luggage to be transferred to our next hotel and they were kind enough to take care of everything. The house is comfortable with a washer and dryer, 2 toilets and one bath/ shower. The kitchen is a bit small, but we didn’t cook at all, so we found it okay. I highly recommend a stay here if you are in Kyoto.

Overall, we loved our stay!The house is spacious with 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen with full amenities, 1 waiting area with a sofa and coffee table, 1 shower/laundry room and 1 dining area with TV.The house is cozy and we are able to have the floor heated while it was a chilly and cold period. Super loved the heated floor.(Suggestion: have some clothes hook in the laundry/shower area so that we can hang our clothes while showering)
