It's like staying at someone's home, really. The beds are comfortable, everything is clean, and the owner is very welcoming. Everyone got a little amuse bouche, so to speak, when paying in cash. And it was so delicious. I read a lot about the rules. At first I thought they seemed strict, but really it's just basic manners. Just don't be rude, I got my deposit back, no problem. I have to add that I speak Japanese though.

There is a tram office nearby, so I bought a one-day ticket there and was able to use it to comfortably enjoy the Nagasaki Lantern Festival.

Location is good for Nagasaki sightseeing. The breakfast was great. The nominal price is cheap, but the owner has a lot of strange rules with fees, so it's probable that you break one of them and have to pay more. There is a late-check-in fee after 5pm. We also had to pay 10.000 Yen extra after one of us did a phone call at night in front of the hostel. On the surveillance camera (why did anyone check this??) this looks like she took a photo of the hostel, which is against the rules. The owner even approached our university to complain about our 'misbehavior'. I would never go there again.

You can tell that you are sleeping in the owner's heart project; here a shop was converted into a very small hostel (six beds) with great attention to detail and a fair amount of improvisation. Everything you need is there (except perhaps a bit more space and privacy) and for those on a budget this would theoretically be a good base for exploring Peace Park. The overnight price also includes breakfast, which in my case was extra vegetarian and very tasty.Small things are negative at first. When booking, you should be clear about the check-in and departure times. Especially if you want to arrive later, you have to pay 3000 yen (in my case a good two thirds of the cost of an overnight stay) and you have to leave very early. Because the hostel is run by just one person and everything has been rebuilt with great attention to detail, there are also a lot of rules. This isn't a bad thing in itself, but in my case it meant that I could never really relax because every time I felt like I saw a new piece of paper out of the corner of my eye with another rule or threat of a fine (examples: only very specific photos were allowed, which had to be removed by the owner, filling more than one garbage bag costs extra, detailed explanations about when which toilet flush is appropriate). But that doesn't make it a bad stay. My real problem started after I left. I had already left the city of Nagasaki and had not yet dealt with a review when I received a message angrily asking whether I had left the below-average rating of six out of ten stars. There was also criticism that I didn't mention in this review (which I didn't even write) that there was vegetarian food for me. The message concluded by saying that since I had written such a bad review, I was a lying Chinese woman like all Chinese people. So in short: stay away if you don't want to be racially insulted.

The owner insulted me and threatened to go to the police since he could not issue a receipt for a prepayment that they charged. They also have a 50% cancellation fee so they would keep this 50% prepayment in any case. I will never book this again.
