I wanted to experience the island feel, so I was thinking of staying in a guest house, but due to my personality, I thought that I wouldn't be able to relax if I communicated too much, so I gave up on a guest house and decided to stay at this island inn, Goen. I was allowed to.The plan is 2 nights with dinner and breakfast included. In conclusion, it was a great decision to include meals. There are several restaurants on the island, but the ones I researched online beforehand are no longer there, or they close at 3pm, and especially after the evening, there are only small pubs. When I got hungry after traveling around the island, there were very few restaurants where I could eat Tarafuku rice, so having dinner and breakfast included was a real relief. As for the food, it's not the luxurious sashimi you'd find at a ryokan, but rather a home-cooked meal. I was very satisfied with the rich variety of meals that I would never have imagined at home. Usually, they serve seafood, but the staff told me that during my stay, they couldn't catch any fish on the barge, so the meals would be mainly meat and vegetables instead. It was given to me. It was a moment when I felt the reality of the island.Free refills of white rice. All the meals were absolutely delicious. I was especially shocked by how delicious the bean sprout namul was.It was somewhat refreshing to see local workers coming in and out of the inn just to eat.The room was a Japanese-style room with an unbreakable IKEA chair. Smoking areas are at the front entrance and at the back entrance in the middle of the hallway. You can see the ocean from the front entrance, so you can enjoy a luxurious experience on the island. There is a vending machine at the front entrance that also sells alcohol. There are no convenience stores and a supermarket is a long walk away, so I'm really grateful for this vending machine.Regarding the method and time required to get around the island, I rented an electric bicycle from the hotel and toured around the island. It took me 5-6 hours to complete the trip, including Madarashima. The island is full of hills, so electric bicycles are definitely best. Even electric cars have tough roads (lol)If you are financially able or have a short stay, it may be a good idea to rent a moped at the port or rent a car. The island looks narrow but is wide. Also, Madarashima seems a little far away, but you should definitely go there. As a side note, Nagasakihana and Pothole were spectacular views that will remain in your memory. It's an incredible Instagrammable spot that the public doesn't know about.Since it was the off-season, there were almost no tourists on the island. There was only one other person staying at the hotel besides me.Although I was traveling alone, Shimajuku Goen was very nice.
