This is a quiet Japanese rural ryokan. Good for those who like quiet. The evening kaiseki is great.

I stayed here for two nights while driving around Kyushu. Absolutely beautiful Ryokan in a lovely little town. Provided a delicious breakfast and dinner (and a lot of it!). There are four private onsen of different sizes, two indoor and two outdoor which are lovely. Highly recommended.

10/10, I would come again and highly recommend to travel to Yunohira to stay here. I wanted a laidback, relaxing ryokan and onsen experience. I saw many great reviews about this ryokan. It exceeded expectations in every aspect. It was also easy to book and arrive at the inn. I felt so happy, relaxed, and calm during my stay, and was sad when it was time to leave. Sharing some logistics and general info in case it is helpful:-Yunohira has an onsen tradition that dates back hundreds of years.-arriving from Fukuoka, I took the scenic Yufuin-no-Mori train first to Yufuin. Sit on the right side (Hakata to Yufuin) for the best views. It books up fast so secure tickets ahead of time. Otherwise you can take a regular train.-local train from Yufuin to Yunohira, at time of writing one-way is 280 yen. Buy a round trip ticket at Yufuin to make it easier, since the Yunohira station is unmanned. If you forget, no problem, the ryokan explains how to purchase your return ticket. When arriving in Yunohira sit in the first car as that is the only car where doors open upon arrival.-the kind proprietor can provide you timetables with the arrival to Yunohira and will pick you up from the train station! It is a quick car ride to the inn, with beautiful views including a waterfall-i couldn’t find availability for the hotel online so I emailed their email address, and was able to secure a reservation with them directly for 2 nights.-breakfast and dinner was included for my stay. I brought some items for light lunch (onigiri, ramen). I’m not sure if there are many, if any, restaurants in town, but the inn did ask if I needed help with lunch. You may consider to get some snacks and lunch items in Yufuin (7/11, grocery stores etc). There was a fridge in my room.-a few temples and sights for a nice 1-2 hour wander and walk around the town. The highlights:-kind proprietors and staff. Easy to communicate in English. When used some Japanese phrases, they were very gracious! Hiromi-san is a second generation proprietor which I find to be very charming and special. They also converted the former Yunohira post office into part of their inn and retained the mailbox outside.-4 onsen baths , 2 outdoor and 2 indoor. Beautiful views of nature from the outdoor pools, and well styled indoor pools. I liked the pottery onsen the best.-lots of great info on the TV including how to wear yukata, how to use onsen, how to return to Yufuin, and about the inn. There is also monitoring of the onsen so you know which ones are available.-delicious dinners! I like to eat a large dinner, and the amount of delicious, well prepared food is impressive. Drink menu available with local craft beer and sake. Also, they were very accommodating of my food allergy.-during dinner time during my nights at the inn, I could hear happy laughter from the kitchen. What a beautiful sound! The staff is so cheerful!-beautiful yukata to use during your day. Hiromi-san offered to let me try a different yukata during my stay.. I was happy to get to wear another one since they were all so beautiful!-fast wifi , YouTube app on the tv , video on demand on the tv.Thank you for a wonderful stay, and congratulations on a fantastic inn.
