I stopped by for a hot bath. The bath was reserved for private use, probably because it was early for guests on weekdays.

Among Kurokawa Onsen, we chose this place as an accommodation for couples. Parking is very inconvenient in this area, so please be aware of this before coming. The lady in charge conducted the check-in in a polite manner, and I received a room upgrade and a small aperitif as a service by making a reservation at a public homepage. The room was upgraded from 6 tatami to 8 tatami, and it was easy to stay alone. Just because the accommodation itself is small, the view from where I stayed was not good.Because it is an accommodation with a long history, there is no elevator and there are high stairs. I hope this is a reference for those with bad knees. Also, since the building structure is complex, you may easily lose track of the location of the room, dining area, or hot spring bath, so you need to be careful. The large public bath has a 1+3 structure, and the men's and women's hot springs alternate between morning and afternoon. There are also two private hot springs, which can be used when there is a vacancy.Dinner was held on the lower level of the entrance, and a part-time Korean staff member guided us well. (The description is almost like a wrapper haha) I ordered the chicken dish and it was quite tasty. I made porridge with the remaining dishes. We also ate breakfast at the same restaurant and it was a simple meal.In the morning, I went to the men's and women's baths, and the open-air bath was great for relieving my fatigue. In particular, there is a key locker to protect against the risk of loss. Before leaving in the morning, he came to personally deliver the items he had left behind in his car. I felt truly grateful. Although Ogakuya is smaller than other facilities, the meals, hot springs, and hospitality are good, so you will be highly satisfied with your stay.

A beautiful ryokan with super friendly, polite staff. The outdoor onsens were nice and very refreshing after a long trip with stops in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. The town itself is pretty and quaint. The food was delicious, but be aware that the meal is a lot bigger than you may anticipate. We had a snack an hour before our dinner and could not finish the meal. We had to have an early checkout to make a reservation at Takachiho Gorge and couldn’t make the breakfast. The hosts were accommodating and gave us free drink tickets in lieu of breakfast. Another positive note about the stay: the onsens were tattoo friendly.

I feel compelled to write a review because this ryokan is, according Okyakuya, the first hot spring inn in Kurokawa. During the Edo era, this was the rest stop of the feudal lords of Kumamoto and of dignitaries of the Shogunate when they undertook trips to the capital. Because of this history, this ryokan's name literally translates to "the guest house of the lord".It lives up to its name with a fantastic the five course dinner, great bathing space and great rooms. The historic layout rich with hardwood also imparts a sense of understated luxury. The staff, of course, was as polite and helpful as one world imagine of a relatively high end Japanese establishment.Highly recommended.

I tried to stay there, but it was fully booked so I stayed at another hotel. I visited Kurokawa Onsen for a day trip as part of my hot spring tour, and was impressed by the staff's detailed guidance. Even though it was a day trip, they were kind and offered me water before being shown around, so I thought they really cared about their customers, as their name suggests. I was guided to the open-air bath, but the inside of the hotel is also clean and looks like a comfortable place to stay. The bath was also very nice and I was able to soak in it slowly. I would definitely like to stay there next time.

This time, I only used the hot springs as a day trip, but as the reviewers have said, it is a wonderful inn where you can feel the great hospitality and hospitality of the employees even if you only use it for a short time. .I took a bath in the open-air bath called Daikan-no-Yu, and the water was warm and slightly cloudy. Although it is a small open-air bath, the temperature was just right and I was able to take a bath while thinking about the history. After the bath, I used another bath ticket to get a draft beer. Drinking a cold draft beer at this timing...this is the best☆Kurokawa Onsen says that you can enter three hot springs of your choice with a bathing ticket, but in reality, there are many facilities where the time is specified or you cannot bathe at all times, but Okaiya Ryokan is almost I also like that they accept me.Since I live in Tokyo, I don't get to visit Kurokawa Onsen very often, but next time I would definitely like to stay overnight and include meals.
