An experimental local hotel. There are some inconveniences, but it looks like they put in an effort in many ways. You have to shower outside, but it's well worth the stay.

There is a unique inn in Beppu, one of Kyushu's leading hot spring areas. This accommodation is a renovated 100-year-old rowhouse. However, there is no hot spring at the inn.July 2019: I used Room 1 "White Box" during a business trip.In the pouring rain at the end of the rainy season, parking was difficult to find and I was at a loss.As I was wandering around the inn, I was lucky enough to find a small sign and was able to park my car. It's a bit unusual, so it's not an inn that will appeal to everyone, but I think it's good for people who are interested in art and want a quiet stay. After all, there was no TV in the room, and there wasn't even tissue paper. Also, you cannot eat meals in your room.Drinking and making noise is out of the question. There is a kitchen in the common space, where you can chat while drinking tea, work, or read. There are various terms and conditions, so please make sure you understand them before making a reservation. When I made the reservation, I had to send a consent form via email.Available only to those who can assist an adult.

I was surprised the moment I entered. I stayed in the ``Tenku'' room, but at first I didn't know where I was going to sleep (lol).I was surprised at first, but it was a great experience to sleep on the sky while looking at the blue sky. There is no bath, but there is Hamawaki Onsen, which is a 2-minute walk away and can be used for 100 yen from 6:30 to 25:00. It's also nice to be able to see the beams of the tenement house. It's basically dark so it's not suitable for reading. Let's be dazed while looking at something blue.

This hotel is based on the concept of staying in art. I used it on Saturday. Parking is available in designated areas free of charge. However, the problem is that the parking lot is a little difficult to find. This inn has a system where no staff is present, so you must pay in advance with a credit card and receive the password for the door via email before entering. When you open the door, you are greeted by a blue ocean-like view created by a famous artist. The room I stayed in has a 1st and 2nd floor structure, and both floors are equipped with air conditioning. When I sleep, I put a futon on the glass floor on the 2nd floor, but the futon is very thin and the glass floor is cold, so I don't think it's very comfortable. The atmosphere is nice though. It's a good idea to wear a mask when you go to bed in winter because it gets very dry inside the room. There are also amenities such as toothbrushes, but there is no bath so you will have to go to a nearby hot spring. Recommended hot springs are also introduced in the information file of the inn, so you shouldn't have any trouble choosing a hot spring. It is also a shame that there are almost no pubs in the area. Higashibeppu Station is close, so you won't have to worry about eating as long as you go to Beppu Station next door (160 yen between Beppu Station and Higashibeppu Station).Because there is no bath and the staff are not present, the accommodation fee is quite low, and I was able to stay for about 8,000 yen. Staying in an art house is something you don't get to do everyday, so I think it will be a great experience.

I stayed in Room 2 (Garden of Firmament) which was featured in art festival in 2012. It’s an old traditional house which has been converted to an art installation you can lodge in. …
