We booked premium accommodation… this was not premium in any way at all.Staff were not very helpful, at all.Location was ridiculously out of the way, of everything.Taxi services wouldn’t come to our hotel due to previous bookings, and food and the amenities were at a very much low standard. The Restaurant was always sold out, of everything and you had to track 40mins on foot or more down the road to find anything else to eat, if you were lucky.. !Vending machines were all sold out within a day of being there and werent replenished the entire duration of our stay. (6 nights, 7 days)We were after a few bandaids or so after snowboarding and ect, but staff didn’t even have a first aid kit on hand, let alone more than one bandaid on them at all.You had to also track out on foot and figure it out for yourself if you were injured, weren’t any help to us at all.We were very disappointed with the overall experience and expected a little more if I’m honest.Wouldn’t revisit this hotel nor would I go back to Nagano again at this rate.

A lovely place a bit off the center, but very easily accessible by car. The rooms are clean and cover basic needs, but the main selling points are the charming (family) staff/owners who are very involved in all the processes themselves, and possibly the best Onsen I've experienced in Hakuba so far. One inside bath, an outside bath with a beautiful view at the forest, an ice-cold stone water basin, and a sauna (not that common). Just what you'd need after a day in the mountain!

Hotel Abest Happo Aldea was a very enjoyable experience for myself and my family. The rooms were very clean and tidy with a nice clean bathroom too. The Television had netflix and youtube which was also a very nice touch. The ski locker room was nice and big, easily accessible, and best of all, right next to a bus stop that takes you to two different ski resorts, with another ski resort just a 10 minute walk away. The location was fantastic for skiing and after a long day on the slopes nothing was better then the beautiful onsen. The staff were also very helpful and lovely! Yuika never failed to meet our many requests and answers our many questions and Zac was a very helpful guide when it came to how to get to ski areas and what they are like! And to top if off seeing Snow Monkeys around the Hotel was truly amazing!!!Thank you so much for the lovely stay Abest Team, you are the best!!

Do not stay here. It’s not just that the rooms are grubby and small. It’s more so the service. We decided to leave two days earlier than expected due to weather. They wouldn’t refund (which is fine - I understand that, I suppose). The issue is that upon checkout, they insisted that I needed to pay for three glasses of milk (JPY1,900) that my kids had requested at night during my stay. That’s right, they refused to give me 3 glasses of milk for free, despite me losing literally thousands of dollars. This is the kind of place that the Abest Hotel is.Do not reward this type of business with your hard earned dollars.Separate to the above, the location is fine regarding access to the mountain, but there’s very little in the way of food choices in the immediate area, and the hotel is not interested in helping you get from A to B.

Nice clean hotel, lovely staff. The drying room however is not kept on over night so some mornings our boots were still wet. The wifi needs some serious attention, everyone in our group struggled to maintain a connection on any of our devices especially at night.Would strongly recommend hiring a car if you are staying here during ski season as it is quite a walk up the hill

My experience at Hotel Abest was entirely positive, from the fantastic staff to the very clean rooms and the Onsen. In particular Yuika was always extremely helpful and friendly to myself and my friend and all other guests. The Ski room was large, convenient, and a new looking room to lock up our snowboards and gear. The location was great with bars and restaurants within walking distance. As well as the restaurant in the hotel itself being delicious. The breakfast was great value for money with an all you can eat buffet with many choices. Finally the Onsen was a fantastic addition after a big day on the slopes. I highly recommend this Hotel for your stay in Hakuba!

We were surprised with Hotel Abest Happo Aldea in a good way! We have a family of 4 and the family room that we had meant that we had lots of space for the kids and ourselves. Two rooms (and a sitting room) as well as two bathrooms was needed and appreciated. The highlight of the hotel however, was the well maintained and much needed onsen as well as the staff, namely Yuika and Nori (the man that never sleeps)! Nothing was too much trouble. We had no issues thanks to Yuika in getting taxis to take us to restaurants, and you can be picked up and dropped off by the hotel bus to not only the station (where you bus back to Nagano) but also the local slopes. There is also a shuttle from right outside the door that will take you over to Iimori as well.Yes, there are newer hotels in Hakuba however, the service that we were provided and warm welcome and hospitatility made staying here an absolute pleasure. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfast easy and a nice inclusion and the hospitality made the entire experience.Thank you to Yuika, Nori and the team, the Ackland's hope to see you again soon!

Hotel could be so much better. We had high hopes for the Abest Happo Aldea. Staff were superb, super helpful etc. The onsen was first class. However, brace yourself for a step back into the 70’s as far as the rooms go. The bathrooms are not even worthy of one star. Anyone over 170cm will struggle to move inside. A caravan would be better equipped. The hotel needs significant investment eg. no proper bar/communal area to relax. Unless you can get a very good room rate I’d avoid staying.
