I think of this place as a ramen joint which happens to have 3 x containers as hotel rooms. At first, the place may feel a bit impersonal, as there is no reception and most communication is done online via messages. Checkin is done via a passcode on the door lock, and it won't work anytime before the check-in time (3pm).This all changed when we visited ramen shop next door when we realised owner of hotel runs the ramen shop and happens to be a kickass ramen cook (and ex professional snowboarder, and a family man of 3 kids). Both husband and wife communicated with us and treated us to welcome alcohol drinks when we dined there. I assure you, their ramen is amazing! The queue can get pretty long!The room is no doubt very modern, well equipped and big. There is a jacuzzi on the roof but in snowy Hakuba during winter, you probably won't get to use it much as there is no cover over it. We were however given tickets to nearby onsen which we were very happy with. Not much sound insulation between room and living room, so you probably can't watch TV with your kids sleeping in the room. Aside from that.. we were generally very happy with the room given how unique it is for the area.Location may seem to be a disadvantage especially if you don't have a car.. but we learnt to get around pretty quickly from the owner. There is a bus stop just 2-3 minutes walk away that will get you to Goryu Escal Plaza or back to Shinjuku in Tokyo. The hotel is probably still better suited to those with a car though.Seriously.. I would stay there just to have ramen. It's that good.

Before I knew it, a stylish container hotel had been built next to Takahashi's, a ramen shop that I always visit when I go to Hakuba Village.I had been curious about it for a long time, so I decided to stay there last month.We stayed in room #2, and it was great! I had planned to stay for 1 night, but it was more comfortable than I expected, so I changed my stay to 2 nights.The interior of the hotel is modern, the home appliances and furniture are fashionable, and the amenities are made with local products (there are even instructions on what products are used), giving you the feeling that the hotel was built with care. It was snowing heavily on the day of my stay, so I was worried about whether I would be able to park my car, but I was glad that the snow was being removed properly. At check-in, you can enter the room using the password sent to you via email the day before, and it was nice to be able to stay without contact during the coronavirus pandemic.In addition, there is a bathtub on the rooftop that can be accessed from the room, and soaking in the private bath in the snowy scenery is a great memory. Also, if you're hungry, you can just go to Takahashi's next door.I would like to use your hotel again when I go to Hakuba. thank you very much.
