We had a room with a private outside bath and private Japanese dinner and breakfast. One of the most authentic hotel we stayed in Japan. The staff was very polite. I highly recommend this hotel.

Aesthetic place with great facilities, very convenient in any way. It was such a memorable and pleasant stay for me at Aburaya Tosen, the best Ryokan in Nagano I must say. The room is spacious and spectacular with private natural Onsen, facing the mountains. At that moment during my stay, the weather was so great (sunny yet pleasantly cold). This place is not far from Yudanaka station, only nine minutes by walk and definitely still doable if you have luggages with you, but they also provide private car from the Ryokan to pick us up if needed, but make a reservation in advance is required and they will arrange the driver to pick you up from Yudanaka station. Well, if you are coming from Tokyo, then the easiest route is take Shinkansen from Tokyo Station / Ueno station to Nagano Station, and take a local train from Nagano station to Yudanaka. They actually have express train but only 1 time in the morning. The Lounge has happy hour starts from 5 PM and they will serve free drinks such as wines, sake, juices, and many more. The coffee machine also good even though I don’t drink coffee, but I couldn’t resist to try their cappuccino and I love it very much as they use the whole coffee beans, makes the taste of the coffee It’s just so great. Breakfast and dinner are delicious! As for breakfast, you can choose private or buffet style. If you stay 3D2N, I suggest you to try both! So worth it!Kind of amazed of how friendly the owner of Aburaya Tosen, she formally greeted me during dinner time and made sure that I had a perfect time on my first night here.I will make sure to visit again and will recommend this Ryokan to my friends and family

I booked the standard Japanese room. It's very spacious with a nice river view. We got there just before 6pm, they swap the female and male yu(hot spring) at 7pm for both genders to utilize both sides of the hot spring facilities. The staff were nice and spoke good English, greeted us with welcome drinks and a sweet treat. We had dinner at the roof top bar, the options were limited, perhaps I believe it's more of a bar then a restaurant. The transparent igloo globes were so cute. The all the hot springs facilities are very clean and the area has everything you needed from body wash to lotions. The best part is you get to dip in the hot spring with a nice view, both indoor and outdoor. Very relaxing.Thank you for the accommodation we enjoyed our stay, definitely recommended.

Loved this place. A calm and quiet Onsen with wonderful facilities. The highlight was the amazing dinner we booked in the restaurant which was made even better by the fact they could cater for both omnivores and vegans without any issues, something we have struggled with on this trip.

Everything about our 2 day stay here was so delightful. The hotel is located in a beautiful location surrounded by mountains and spring water. You can hear the stream in your room, which is so peaceful. The staff was so lovely, cheerful, and pleasant. All of our meals were beautiful and delicious. We enjoyed soaking in our private onsen on the porch in the morning and at night. We loved the rooftop bar with private igloo rooms and warm heaters. It was a perfect spot for us to go see the snow monkeys, about 10 mins away by bus. Overall a perfect experience.

I travelled with my 14 year old daughter across Japan. I booked Japanese room for two nights with private onsen (open air hot spring bath) and Kaiseki meal. We arrived early April and didn’t now what to expect. Yudanaka town looked very quiet and sleepy. When we arrived in the hotel we were warmly welcomed. My daughter is vegetarian and the hotel didn’t get my email with this information, but this wasn’t an issue and the staff was quickly updated. The room was amazing! Truly unique experience. Sleepers at the entrance, selection of yukatas for our use during the stay, Japanese room with low tables and futons which were rolled out when we dinned. Private onsen on the balcony was amazing! Our evening meal was state of the art performance. Each dish was presented so beautifully and stuff so attentive. There was a bit of language barrier, but I couldn’t expect everyone to speak English, and that didn’t stopped us from having an amazing time.Evening Drinks in the pods on the roof and breakfast, hike to see snow monkeys and our lunch stop at the amazing brewery was truly unforgettable experience.

We had no idea what to expect. We booked a Japanese style room with a private onsen. Our kids are 9 and 12. We arrived around 100pm but check in wasn’t until 2:30pm. …

We went as a triple generation group of 8. The staff was so helpful and polite. We could only get the family rooms, which was 4 to a room but they were very spacious so we didn't feel crowded.  …
