My partner and I were doing Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route and stayed at this minshuku. We stayed around a year ago, but the experience was so good I wanted to share our experience even if it was late (sorry about that). When you go hiking it is difficult to calculate the exact time at which you will arrive at a certain destination, since many unforeseen things can happen on the way. We were a bit short in time and arrived almost at dinner time. Nevertheless, we could have a shower first and we afterwards had dinner with another two guests. We are sorry for the inconvenience and for having make them wait, since we didn't know all guests shall eat at the same time.I think this is important to know when you book in a Minshuku, take into account that it is not a normal hotel/hostel, but more like a house with a family, so there are certain rules and ettiquete to follow (it is part of its charm).I have only good words for this place. The chef used to work at a very important restaurant in the past, so he has great experience and all his creations are wonders. Be prepared for a big dinner and big breakfast with lots of small plates typical from kaiseki ryouri style. All the staff at the minshuku was very nice and we could communicate without problems, but a bit of Japanese knowledge is reccomendable in order to not have any misunderstandings. The room was very wide and comfortable, Japanese style (with tatami and so on), and everything was very clean. After a full day of walking, I strongly recommend Minshuku Tsugizakura!

What a success and how lucky we were to be able to stay here. The staff is super friendly, the communication is 4/5 for the simple fact that you have to get off the Kumano Kodo path and then climb it again the next day, very steep and lazy in the morning. Not always, and the food is incredible. We didn't know the chef was so well known and we enjoyed the dinner very much. The breakfast surprised me how "modern" it was, having almost no fish and being a little more original than traditional. On top of that there was dessert. The dishes did not stop arriving, very careful and delicious. The bento the next day was my least favorite part but it wasn't bad either. If I did it again, I don't think I would take it, but the complete package of accommodation + all meals is super well priced for what you receive. 100% recommended, I hope to return in the future!

It was a great stay. At this price, you can enjoy delicious food in the morning and evening, have warm customer service from a couple, and the location is perfect for walking around Nakahechi. The room was clean, and the guesthouse felt friendly everywhere, including the amenities and facilities. I almost want to walk down Nakahechi again to visit this inn again. The bento box is also great, so I highly recommend ordering it ✨

It is located almost in the middle of the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi between Takijiri and Hongu, making it the perfect location for those who plan to walk the entire route in two days. Everything was delicious, from the evening kaiseki meal prepared by the host, a former hotel chef, to the breakfast meal, and even the boxed lunch they brought us.The bath, room, and kitchen are all comfortable and clean, and there is a wide variety of things you can use, from tea and coffee to hair mousse. Speaking of spacious, the bath is also a large cypress bath, where you can heal the fatigue of your travels. I did. I'm really thankful to you. I was able to talk to many tourists from Paris and Australia who were staying with me, and it was a great memory.
