It was my first time visiting Shirahama in Wakayama Prefecture and we had a fantastic time staying at Kuroshio Sou, which was renovated and just reopened in July 2023. It is only a 2 hour drive from Osaka and it is also easily accessible from Tokyo (1hr 15min flight from Haneda Airport to Nanki-Shirahama Airport and then a 10min taxi ride from Nanki-Shirahama Airport to Kuroshio Sou). The food, the room, the hospitality, everything was incredible and stylish. We had a fun and relaxing time (1 night, 2 days). The hotel staff were knowledgeable about Wakayama and answered all of our questions about the delicious Japanese dishes served during dinner that used various local ingredients. The hotel staff were also friendly and they provided their recommendations about places to visit nearby, so we were able to take a stroll to Shirarahama beach, and visit a trendy cafe named ASACAFE (also part of the same group as Kuroshio Sou) and a cute bean-to-bar chocolate store. If you are looking for an authentic and relaxing experience in Japan and amazing Japanese hospitality, I highly recommend Kuroshio Sou!

if you want enjoy your a chill time and the best local food, while still have your privacy, this is best option you could choose. it is located on the mountain top and has 12 rooms and service is very much like guest-based. the food there, which is the best food quality and food experience i had during my trip in Japan, it is a pity that it does not open for any random drop-in. i love the wine pairing session !!!! regretted that i did not bought the wine and the Chocolate in the end !!! btw, i love the wind-view seat. guys just go and try, you will love it.and they have free and fresh ice cream made by local seasonal fruits, you can just go pick whenever you want.

The highest quality hospitality and comfortable staff. The meal is kaiseki, but it is not suitable for young people. The rice balls are made into rice balls for a late night snack, and the drinks are quite expensive. The hot spring bath is a little small. The access road is quite narrow

Thank you for your help for two days.As others have written, there are welcome sweets, handwritten messages in the room, and kudzu ice cream as a service. Both dinner and breakfast are exquisite, and the alcohol and other drinks are locally produced and locally consumed, and everything is original and can be enjoyed from the eye of the design. Particularly delicious were the yuzu dish that was served first, the sashimi, and the wild boar with miso dressing (I have forgotten the official name of the dish). The rice is also exquisite, and you can use the leftover oyster rice from dinner to make into rice balls. The hot springs were salty and warmed me from the core of my body. I missed going in at night, so I went in in the morning, but I didn't feel cold in the water, and it was a pleasant morning even though I had drunk too much at dinner the night before.Everyone at the inn is kind, and even though the building is clean, it feels like home. The amenities are cute, and I think both men and women can enjoy this inn. I look forward to hearing from you again. Thank you.

I have stayed at many accommodations, but this is the first time I have stayed at a ryokan where I was able to relax and relieve my fatigue. Especially the food is great! Made with ingredients from Wakayama, it not only tastes great, but also looks beautiful and looks great in photos. The customer service from the staff was excellent and I was able to enjoy my meal slowly for the first time in a while. The lobby and rooms had a wood scent, and it was a relaxing space no matter where I went. It was an inn that I would like to visit again. If you are traveling to Wakayama, please visit! !

It was my first time in Wakayama.I was able to relax in a very quiet place.I was very grateful to the warm staff who kindly provided me with information on how to spend time at the inn and the surrounding area. The view from the room is wonderful, and you can feel the four seasons.Dinner and breakfast were also very delicious, and I felt that they were particular about the ingredients. This is an inn that I would definitely like to visit again.

It was a wonderful hotel that soothed the body, mind, and sensibilities. Everything from the architecture, spatial presentation, service, and food is gentle and warm. The food is truly amazing, and each item is made with quality ingredients and craftsmanship, and each item has a taste you've never experienced before! I used it on a girls trip to Wakayama. It is located within easy reach by bus from Shirahama Station. I got off the bus stop and went up the hill, but it wasn't very far. First of all, the exterior has a stylish atmosphere, and when you enter the building, you can feel the relaxed atmosphere that has a Japanese yet trendy feel. Every detail, from the interior to the accessories, was carefully thought out, and even the sign plates at each location were cute. There are also welcome sweets, which I think is a great feature for women. The room was based on white and had a calming atmosphere, making it very relaxing. The food was all made using ingredients from Wakayama, and the fish was fried on the same day, so it was very fresh and I hadn't had such delicious food in a while! ! I was impressed. Amenities are also abundant, and the shampoo used is from OSAJI, which was soothing as well. The entire building was filled with the scent of wood, and it was soothing from beginning to end. The staff had great hospitality and the calm atmosphere was very nice. I will go again.

It was quiet on a hill near the sea, and time passed slowly and soothingly.I was impressed by how clean the inside of the hotel was and how comfortable the linen loungewear was against my skin! The meals were made with fresh fish and freshly harvested vegetables - the simmered kueh and saury fish rice were so delicious I couldn't stop using my chopsticks...This is a place I definitely want to visit in the fall!
