Thankyou Chieko san for your kind hospitality! We made a same-day booking over the phone for a visit to Kumano Kodo shrines in Shingu. Easy to find, easy parking, free wifi, combini nearby, motorcycles and bicycles welcome. Clean air conditioned tatami room, separate male and female toilet, proper Japanese bath. Meals are available in the comfortable dining area, we were able to microwave our food and enjoy it there too. There is an Izakaya next door. Kind and attentive hosts. ありがとうございました😊

I'd say it's a guesthouse, or maybe it's for construction workers or backpackers going around Kumano. It's not suitable for families.

The room is a normal "minshuku", but this is what I noticed after staying there. For your reference.1. There is no hot water service. Dinner is not served on Wednesdays and Sundays, so if you try to settle for cup ramen, you will be disappointed.2.There is a large bath on the 1st floor, and a domestic bath and shower room on the 2nd floor. If you want to relax by yourself, you can choose to stay on the second floor, but you will have to turn on the hot water yourself.3.The sound of walking can be heard everywhere. Please be careful as the noise is especially loud when going up and down the stairs.4.The customer base may be extremely poor. The guests on the first night of our two-night stay were the worst, talking loudly in the hallway, shouting loudly in the public bath across the street, and running around in the hallways making a lot of noise. Speaking of bad luck, the inn was completely abandoned...By the way, dinner is mainly seafood as it is close to the fishing port. Also, there are some nice features such as a washing line in the room, but I feel like I would choose someone else if I was staying alone. Also, there is no dinner on Wednesdays, but please note that the famous Mehari Sushi restaurant is also closed on Wednesdays.
