I used it on a tour of Mt. Koya. I wanted to try Ajikan meditation at the Ajikan dojo, but foreigners were given priority there, and Japanese people were held in the main hall. A little disappointing. The vegetarian cuisine was exquisite. All of the flavors were good, and the mushroom soup udon was exquisitely delicious. The Okunoin night tour was also very good. I think the monk's story was wonderful and easy to understand, with lots of laughter. I think you should definitely participate as you will gain a lot of insight. Some of the monks are a little shy, so we recommend that you do not expect customer service like you would at a ryokan. The view from the room was amazing. The bath is not a hot spring, but it is beautiful. It was quiet and comfortable.I would like you to participate in the morning service and Goma prayer. I think it will be a wonderful experience.

The history of Huiguang-in can be traced back to 1,200 years ago, when Kukai, the great master of Buddhism, built a five-story pagoda here. Later, Kukai's disciple Doteru Zongzu became the abbot and often held dedication rituals here, so it was called Huixiang-in until the Hoei period (1704). Year), according to the order of the eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune, it was renamed Ekoin. Koyasan Keikoin Temple can be traced back to 1,200 years ago, when Kobo Daishi Kukai built a five-story pagoda here. Later, Kukai's disciple Doteru Sozu became the abbot and often held dedication rituals here, so it was called Keikoin Temple. By the Hoei period (1704) Year), according to the order of the eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune, it was renamed Eiko-in, and now it has become one of the most popular shukubo in Koyasan.Eiko-in is just a stone's throw away from the holy land "Okuno-in". Huiguangyuan is managed by the new generation. Here, you can enjoy the atmosphere of tradition, history, and nature in the shukubo. While preserving the tradition, it also uses modern equipment, which gave me a new feeling about the temple shukubo. There are also many contemporary art collections here. For me, it's like entering an art museum. Staying there for a few more days is not enough.

A very special experience. We were a bit afraid beforehand that it would be too touristy a place, but the monks respectfully allowed us to be part of their daily lives. The surroundings and the road to it were also beautiful. I hope that everyone who comes here shows the same respect and adapts a little. It's a shame to see that a few tourists don't seem to try. For example, taking off your shoes properly or not wearing the yukata outside. Fortunately, if you have any doubts about what the customs are, it is all in the booklet in the room, take some time to read it.

Escape busy Tokyo or Osaka for this calming, welcoming and nurturing town of Koyasan. You’ll be warmly greeted regardless of what shops you enter or which temple you stay in. However, I must say that the team at Eko-in really goes above and beyond to make for an incredible experience from start to finish. They guide you step by step upon check-in and let you know what to expect along the way. They made us feel so welcome and were so patient with our many questions. This is now my second time staying here and I would gladly come back again!Things not to be missed:-4:30 pm guided meditation-In-room massage therapy by monks-7pm cemetery walk (if it doesn’t rain, ours got cancelled due to weather)-7am morning prayer-7:30am fire ritualCannot recommend highly enough!!🏯🍜🎋📿
