The hotel staff couldn't speak Japanese, the food was incomprehensible, and the room was dirty❗️

Our last, most expensive, and by far worst stay in Japan. The whole building exudes cheap glamour painted over torn paper and moldy baths. We requested a pickup from the bus station, which the hotel did generously agree to, but left us there for nearly an hour while 4° outside, and only came by once we had walked more than halfway. This in part caused us to miss the offered dinner, so we were graciously offered cup ramen instead. Of course, the loud drunken guests at dinner continued to eat until well after we arrived, and the noise chased up 3 floors (no elevator) through our thin walls til morning. At least the baths were hot! So steamy they nearly hid the scummy tiles and mildewed ceilings in them, but not steamy enough to justify the tiny off-center curtain to the mens bath, allowing any to see in as they change clothing. Disgusting. The shower in the room shares space with the toilet and looks more like a compact ship's shower, with barely room to move, presumably to compact as many drunkards paying 35,000 ¥ a night in at once. The room is uninteresting. No sound proofing, torn washi paper windows, thin futons. Yukata smell strange and feel scratchy. All in all, it was a horrid experience.

This hotel can overlook Mount Fuji in the distance. There is a hot spring, but you have to carry your luggage upstairs, which is more difficult for older friends, but the scenery is beautiful.

The view from the outside was very beautiful, but the cleaning condition of the room was so poor that I didn't feel that they showed any hospitality towards the guests. I was especially concerned about water stains on the window glass, dirt in the shower room, spider webs, the messy way the toilet paper was folded, and the smell in the entire room. There weren't many guests and there was almost no electricity, so it looked like it wasn't open. I was told that there would be no cancellation fee at the time of making the reservation, so I felt I should have been a little more suspicious. I felt very sad.
