Best place to stay if you like old buildingsSummer meals are BBQ on the station platform, so you can feel a bit like glamping.Both the host and the hostess were very personable and we had a great time.The station itself is an inn on a depopulated line, so it's for people who enjoy the inaccessibility itself.

I've never stayed at an inn that I've been really interested in for some time, "Eki no Yado Hirafu".This is a rare inn in Japan, where the station building is a guesthouse.There is now a log cottage next door❣️You can have a BBQ at home and take a log bath.Apparently it was featured on TV and even turned into a novel. It's no wonder that it's extremely popular not only with railway enthusiasts but also with travelers.

This is a station where the station building, which is only known to those in the know, is now an inn. The bedroom was said to have been a rest room for former Japanese National Railways employees.Dinner is a barbecue on the platform, as shown in the attached photo. During the meal, the train came to the platform and the people on the train were cheering (?) (lol)With the extension of the Hokkaido Shinkansen to Sapporo, this station (inn) will be closed, and I can't help but feel sad about it...It was the most impressive and wonderful accommodation I have ever stayed at.

●As for the meals, I was fully satisfied with the experience fee, which included an extraordinary meal at a home. Although I am an adult male, I think the amount was appropriate.●It is convenient that the train transit times are written inside the room. After all, you're staying at the station, so you want to see the trains. There was even information about the passing times of the Russell cars that are operated during the winter, so I would like to come during the snowy season. (We need snowfall that does not cause traffic interruptions.)●An embroidered patch made by your friend's artist would make a great souvenir.●It's strange that no one has mentioned this, but the open-air bath, carved from a single log, is outstanding. The comfort of the sleeping bath is one of the best in the country. Although it is not a hot spring, you can reheat it as you like, so you can make the water as hot or lukewarm as you like. However, it may be uncomfortable for overweight people or people with broad shoulders, such as those who play rugby.●It has been decided to abolish the mountain line, and it seems that they are looking for a buyer. The dates on which meals are provided are also limited. Please arrive early to book your stay.●Lastly, thank you for your help.

I finally got to experience my long-awaited home BBQ experience! The sunset over Niseko Annupuri covered in snow was beautiful and an unforgettable memory.The common room facing the platform was also very comfortable.This section is scheduled to be discontinued with the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, so the period in which you can experience it as a "station inn" is limited. Hurry to Hirafu.(Please note: As stated on the inn's website, there were a lot of insects in the log house. Please consider carefully if you are not good at insects.)
