Spacious accommodation arranged in a typically Japanese way around an interior garden. Perfect location in Takayama along the river, quiet for exploring the very pretty town of Takayama and its surroundings (Kamikochi, Shirakawa).

We made a reservation but had to cancel at the last minute due to a medical issue. The owners were amazing and agreed to refund us the full amount although they weren’t obliged to according to the cancellation policy. Thank you and we hope to return again

(We stayed in Oct 2023. )Pros:- Good location, walking distance of the historic streets, the morning market, etc.- Also walking distance of a nice supermarket. A couple more in short driving distance.- Has a parking space 30 secs walk away.- Lovely terrace facing the river.- The kitchen is sufficiently equipped and we got free drinks in the fridge as well.- Bathroom is really nice, enjoyed the bathtub with river views.- The price we paid is excellent for what we got. Some small things during the stay:- The emergency light in the staircase to 2/F was very bright (which is fair, of course) but the paper door of the bedroom could not block the light, so the 2/F bedroom was a bit too bright to sleep. Suggest to put some curtains over the door. We left some feedback on this not sure if this is fixed or not.- There is no phone inside the residence, and the self-check in tablet didn't work when we were there, so best to have skype or something that you can use to call local phone number. Once we called the phone number it was quick to get everything resolved.- The slippers for the terrace were all too small!

The coffee I had on the terrace on the second floor was great. Recommended if you are staying in Takayama, where you can see pheasants strolling along the riverbed. There's no TV, but you'll have so much fun that you won't even need it.The washer/dryer is equipped with the latest equipment, so you don't have to worry about washing your clothes. However, there was no rice cooker, so those who like to cook for themselves should be careful. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)
