[A riverside inn with a quiet environment and a sky full of stars]Shiobara Onsen since Yunohanaso. The Shiobara Onsen Village in this area is just over an hour away by Shinkansen, and by car via the Tohoku Expressway, it's an area that's easy to get to from the Tokyo metropolitan area with little traffic congestion. This time, we used Kanon (Kaedeone), which is located on the banks of the Hoki River. This is a new inn opened by the son of the nearby hot spring inn, Fujiya, who is now the head chef. The detached maisonette room that we had taken advantage of as a last-minute discount had become considerably cheaper, and the total bill for two people, including alcohol and cash only, was just over 80,000 yen.▪️Cooking/TasteAs expected, the owner himself is the head chef who trained in Ishikawa Prefecture, and the cuisine is generally excellent, with creative cuisine centered around Japanese cuisine.Despite being located in the mountains, the sashimi is fresh and of high quality, befitting a luxury inn. From the appetizers to the final meal, Donzuba's creative cuisine is not Japanese cuisine, but has a twist. The soup is also a corn soup that is common in French cuisine, but it is not made with regular corn, but rather has a refreshing taste. On the other hand, it's interesting to see that there are some standard dishes that would be served at an ordinary high-end hot spring inn, such as ``Tochigi beef sirloin shabu-shabu''.The only drawback is that the taste in utensils is not good.Personally, I believe that, like other authentic Japanese restaurants and high-end inns, when it comes to Japanese cuisine, the taste of the restaurant or inn is reflected in the taste of the tableware.Of course, this is subjective, but compared to high-end inns such as Matsunoo and Kagaya Bekkan Matsuno Aoi in Ishikawa Prefecture, my impression was that they should have tried a little harder. This is not limited to tableware, but the overall impression, from interior decoration to communal spaces and guest rooms.▪️Service/AtmosphereThe best thing about this inn is the surrounding environment. The houses are sparsely located on the banks of the Hoki River, so there is almost no sound of population. There is little traffic on the main road in front of the inn, especially at night, so there are hardly any cars running, making it an ideal sound environment where the only background music is the sound of the river flowing.Fortunately, the night was clear and the moon was a crescent (it's hard to see stars when the moon is full), so we were able to enjoy a starry sky.Furthermore, in the maisonette guest rooms, you can rest in a hammock and watch the sun, which is really comfortable, and the beds in the guest rooms are of a good quality with just the right amount of firmness. As far as I have used the hot spring itself, it seems that it is not completely free-flowing (no chlorine added, no circulation, no heating, no water added) (I didn't notice the signage, so I don't know if it's true). That said, the unique, slippery quality of the hot springs gives you the feel you would expect from a hot spring, and it's very comfortable to soak in.There are only a few guest rooms, and there are open-air baths with their own rooms, so most of the people in the communal baths were comfortable to use by themselves. .Everyone in charge of customer service, from welcoming us to seeing us off, is polite and pleasant. Answers are accurate and stress-free.This area was a truly luxurious inn.
