This is a good inn for people who like old inns. Soaking in the hot springs and looking at the view from the window will make you forget the time. I feel like I've come to a hot spring. How about exploring the main building of this inn, which also appears in Momiji Ozaki's Golden Yasha? You will be transported back in time in an instant.

At the end of summer vacation, the kids wanted to go to the hot springs again, so we made a reservation the night before. I was worried because I was sent to a room without air conditioning on a midsummer day of 37 degrees in the city center, but as the sun went down, it got cooler, and in the evening, the room was more comfortable than the air conditioning, with a pleasant breeze coming in. (As the landlady told me in the morning, it was so cold that it was cold if the windows were left open.) As you would expect from an environment that was chosen by literary figures of the past as a place to write, you can spend a comfortable time even in the summer. It is an environment where you can spend a comfortable time while enjoying the retro atmosphere. Within a 10-minute walk, there are plenty of places like Yuppo no Sato, cafes, and Japanese food, so I was satisfied even with a plan to stay without meals. I forgot to take a photo of the old National logo refrigerator in the room, so I would like to use it again.

Although it feels old, the lobby and restrooms have been renovated and are clean. The room is old, but the floor plan is spacious and satisfactory. There is a microwave and electric kettle in the lobby. There is a tray on top of the microwave to bring heated items. I can feel the care of the host.I stay at cheap hotels here and there, but this is one I would like to return to.The landlady's consideration and cost performance are the best.

This inn is famous for its Ozaki autumn leaves. I felt that they were struggling with maintenance. Although it is very old, I like this type of inn.

An inn that was once loved by literary greats. It was founded in the Meiji era, and although the building has been expanded and renovated, it still looks quite retro. In the guest rooms, high-quality construction materials are used, such as the floor pillars and the rising frames of the alcove. I can't use the indoor bath because there is no hot water. The toilet in the room is Japanese-style, which I haven't seen in a while. There is a new, clean toilet in the hallway. The food is local cuisine from the countryside. The taste and quantity are not bad. The rice was delicious. At the hot springs, the men's and women's large baths will be switched at 9:00 p.m. The first men's bathhouse had three washing areas, including one shower, and was pretty run down. The spring quality is slightly cloudy and the temperature is just right. Another bathhouse with a strange name, Lucky no Yu, has a slightly better washing area and bathtub (so maybe it's lucky?).The building is located right next to the Hokigawa mountain stream, so the view is good. There is a suspension bridge nearby. It's okay for people who can afford it, but it's difficult for people who can't afford it. Since the price is low, people who don't care about age, or who enjoy a sense of wabi-sabi, may find it a good idea to relax while gazing at the mountain stream once in a while. I would like to go again.

It's an old inn. Walking through the hallways at night feels like a test of courage. If you are staying without meals, there are no places to eat nearby, so it is best to eat before heading up the mountain path to Shiobara Onsen.
