Our first overnight stay on the island of Hokkaido, arriving from Tokyo, was here.|The accommodation has a very rural and eco-friendly look. …

A very retro and simple guest house that was renovated from an old private house.Although it is a little far from the city center, it is very quiet at night. If you cross the road, you will come to Lake Toya. There is a shower and the toilet is also very clean. The prices are also very reasonable.Although the facilities are minimal, it's fine for stopping by during your trip.I would like to use it again the next time I go to Lake Toya.

A lovely cafe with a retro and calm atmosphere, housed in a renovated old house. Also, the cafe is directly across from the lake, and the water is shallow and clean, so it was a very interesting experience to stand on the lake shore and admire the scenery. When I talked to the manager, I found out that he knows quite a bit about folk music and is fluent in English as he goes to Southeast Asia to buy ingredients. There is usually only one manager, so during busy times such as lunchtime, it may take some time for the food to be ready, so if you are in a hurry, please take this into account. We recommend the delicious Asian-style curry made with garam masala and vegetable stock.Recently, it seems that people are staying overnight there, so it might be a good idea if you want to relax in an old folk house.

There were no other customers, just me.I used a day spa at another hotel before coming here. I put my bicycle in a wood-splitting shed with a roof.

This used to be a coffee place. Now it is a very simple guesthouse with a cabin flair. There is all there, but it is a bit cottage style, there is a hot shower, but the other faucets have cold only. The room is laid with tatami which I like. In my case I slept on the floor on a futon (other rooms have beds). It got cold during the night and I was glad that I had a second blanket. As with all guesthouses bring ear-plugs as you will hear your neighbours snore and there is a little traffic on the road right to the house. There is no Internet which is good as it lets you disconnect but also blocks you from planning your journey. Not many more services. Overall the area is beautiful, but due to communication issues, it is hard to figure out where to go hike besides the beaten must-goes (like the gondola to the volcano Uru-san).So overall, you pay for the location at the lake-side.
