It is a camp site where you can stay while feeling the magnificent view of the Seto Inland Sea.

If you are riding along the Shimanami Kaido cycling course, you can easily find it because there is a signboard. After passing under the highway, you will see a 2.5km sign and the real climb begins. It seems that a large dump truck passes through for stone mining, so the pavement is not very good and there is some gravel here and there, so you need to be careful if you are riding a bicycle. After walking for a while from the signboard, you will reach the goal at the arch of Kareyama Observation Park!Just as I thought about it, the slope continued for almost 1km with a gradient of over 10%...When I finally arrived at the parking lot, there was no one around even though it was a Saturday, so I was worried, but as I walked along the promenade, a spectacular view awaited me.There seems to be a paid sauna at the spot with the best view, so it was a shame that we couldn't see the spectacular view.

We visited on a Saturday in August 2024!There is free parking and restrooms! From the 232m high Kareiyama Observation Deck, you can see a panoramic view of Hakata Island, Ushima, the home of Murakami Kaizoku, and Noshima! There was also a lot to see, such as the tides of Funaori Seto and the boats coming and going!

I visited the camp for the first time around the beginning of April this year 🏕I thought it would be hotSince we were on top of a mountain, the wind was cold. The weather was nice, so we were able to see a wonderful view of Shimanami from the campsite. The toilet is a little far away, but there were cherry blossom trees along the way, so it was fun to walk (*^^*)From the observation deck, we could see a wonderful combination of cherry blossoms and the Shimanami Kaido, and the sunset was also beautiful. It was my first time to go to a campsite on top of a mountain, but the view from the top of the mountain was so amazing that I definitely want you to go there!*It gets cold at night, so down jackets are a must even in spring 🌃

I like the view from Mt. Karei more than the major Mt. Kirosan. Especially around Noshima and Taizakijima, you will lose track of time.

It's a spot with a great view. The upper level of the stairs is on a slope, so it may not be suitable for setting up a tent.

Hill climb on the Shimanami Kaido cycle.I went there with some trepidation because I had read reviews that it was tougher than Mt. Kirosan, but it wasn't that tough. The slope is over 10% from beginning to end, but it drops to 4% in some places, so you can catch your breath a little. And when you finish climbing, the view is spectacular ✨Shimanami Kaido is the best❗The sea is so beautiful...There are almost no people here, so it's a hidden gem, so I recommend it.

The road was narrow and felt scary for large vehicles, but once you reach the top there is an open parking lot.The view of the islands in the Seto Inland Sea from the top of the mountain is amazing! It's worth going. Please try climbing it.

camp220922 Kareyama Observation Deck Park Campsite, usage fee: 1,360 yen per tent per night, only a standing faucet without a washing area, and a fully flush heated toilet seat without washing, but it is well maintained. Many of the campgrounds on the Shimanami Kaido are by the sea, so we chose a campsite on a hill to see the beauty of the archipelago.I was happy to have a private reservation on weekdays, but it rained from evening until morning! Cry! So cooking over a bonfire in the thick fog was difficult. By dawn, I had recovered, so I took a hot breath at Tomi Chaya. I was satisfied with the fantastic beauty of the archipelago in the morning mist. I hope it's a sunny beach next time!

I went solo at the beginning of January. I was completely solo that day.Reception is completed by having a volunteer come to the observation deck parking lot at the time to meet you and paying the fee. They were very kind and guided us to the campsite by car 😌When I went, the roads were well paved and there were no problems with driving. The campsite is a dirt site similar to a park ground, so it's quite hard and the pegs are forged. There is only space for about 2 tents to set up and enjoy a nice view, so it might be difficult if there are a lot of campers. There is an observation deck nearby, so it might be a bit unsettling during the day as tourists will appear here and there. At night, you can enjoy the starry sky and the night view of the islands, which is nice ✨The toilets are flushable and clean, but there is no kitchen, just a water tap, so you can do some simple washing.I think this is a great place for campers who want to enjoy the scenery of Shimanami Kaido, even if it feels a little inconvenient.
