All my interactions with wakka were super easy, so helpful and went out of their way to offer local tips and accomodate us when we had a slight change in plan and needed our bikes collected earlier. Outstanding, super customer service, highly recommend!

Wakka Cycle Hotel was an idyllic oasis halfway along the Shimanami Kaido cycle route between Onomichi and Imabari on Omishima island. So after 40km of cycling in 30C it was wonderful to be met by friendly English speaking staff who served …

We stayed in the two bed cottage with private bathroom. The stay was incredible. We arrived at about 3, hurting from sitting on horrible bicycle seats for multiple hours. The staff made us feel really valuable, and the person greeting us went out of his way to find us padded seats for the rest of the trip that we could borrow. Literally saved the experience. The premium BBQ was great. Lots of fantastic local produce, with a person helping us through it whenever we had any questions. Brilliant selection of locally crafted beers as well. Not to mention the location! I have seldom been more satisfied with a stay, so I felt I had to write this review. So for anyone doing the Shimanami Kaido, or who happens to be in Ōmishima. Stay here if there is room.Bravo!

We stayed in their cottage for one night in the middle of our Shimanami Kaido bicycle trip, with BBQ dinner and breakfast. The views from the cottage were amazing, and we got to watch the sunset from our room. Dinner BBQ service included a lot of food and fresh ingredients, with fresh-caught fish and tomatoes picked from their own garden. Breakfast was great as well, with local orange juice. We will definitely be coming back here again in the future!

Wakka was a great base for our Shimanami Kaido cycling adventure. We stayed for two weeknights in mid-April in the dome tent. Room is very comfortable, spacious, with amenities like water, PJs, AC, and warm jackets for cool evenings. The shared shower facilities are clean. The staff are fabulous. Very helpful by email (in English) when I had to modify my reservation. Incredibly friendly in person. Pickup/drop-off is available from the bus stop. They set us up for a comfortable day of riding on Specialized e-bikes.We had breakfast both days at the cafe with a beautiful view of Tatara Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea. The tent-side BBQ was perfect after a long day of ridings, and really fun. Highly recommend. We had a delicious seafood dinner at nearby Caribu restaurant on our first night, and we really enjoyed that too.I walked to the nearby city-run onsen at the Shimanami Dome for a good soak. The facilities are not fancy but clean and the onsen water was great. I especially enjoyed the outdoor bath with a view of the ocean. Wakka provided me with a free entrance ticket. Be sure to bring your own soap, or purchase at the onsen front desk since they are not supplied in the bath.We opted to ride south from Wakka to Imabari and back. It was a good amount of riding for one day - not exhausting (especially with e-bikes), with plenty of beautiful views and bridge crossings. We got some cool souvenirs at Sunrise Itoyama in Imabari, and delicious citrus and soft serve ice cream at the Tatara Shimanami roadside station just south of the Tatara bridge. We met so many interesting folks along the way. Be sure to chat with your fellow riders.Highly recommend Wakka for anyone interested in cycling the Shimanami Kaido.
