I am at a loss for words! This were by far the most calm and relaxing days we spend at our 3 weeks Japan trip. Staff is very kind and attentive. We booked the Kame room with private onsen which we got so much use out of! Everything was clean and spacious. The food at dinner and breakfast were excellent and delicious. I would definitely come here again on my next trip! ♥️

Overall it was good. What about the location? The staff's service is great. The room is a bit small and the price is not worth it.The hot springs were nice and had a wide variety. The food is of a very high standard among high-class restaurants. If you're looking for good food, this is the only place to go.

The staff and owner were friendly and welcoming. Many staff spoke English, and provided us with English maps and menus which I’m very appreciative of. The Room, Food and Onsen were fantastic. The owner Masou also hosted a walking tour of the town and I can’t recommend this enough for anyone saying in Shima Onsen. Thankyou very much Masou & Staff!

Our visit at Kashiwaya Ryokan was outstanding. We both agreed that is was the highlight of our Japan trip. We were there two nights and three days, we ordered the vegan meals, and the Japanese-style rooms (futons).  …

We had such a wonderful stay and the staff made us feel so welcome and really went out of their way to accommodate us and make our stay even more special. The food was delectable and varied. With one of us eating vegan we had the vegan breakfast and dinners and it was sooo おいしい. We loved the tranquility of the place and the room and communal areas are beautifully designed with so much care of details, so clean and updated and well kept. If we could give this Ryokan more stars, we totally would. どうもありがとうございます

It was my first time staying there. One word: “Awesome😃⤴️⤴️”Staff + hot springs + food (night and morning) + atmosphere, etc. No matter which one you chose, it was a ryokan that made you feel soothed by everything 😃 I've decided that it's a candidate that I would definitely want to visit again!! ️

First of all, I was surprised at how young all the staff were. The decorations of each Japanese TASTE inn are stylish. There is one large public bath for men and women, and three open-air baths that you can enter without making a reservation if they are empty. The abundant source water of Shima Onsen. If it rains, enter the open-air bath with an umbrella. I thought the temperature would drop because of the rain, but it was Shima Onsen, so there was no particular problem. Each hot spring room is equipped with bath towels. Comfortable without having to reuse damp towels. There's not much of a tingling sensation, and it's not so hot that it's hard to get into it. There aren't many guest rooms, so you can take a tour of the open air and see if there are any spaces available. The diet seems to change with the seasons, and in early fall there are a lot of sweet potatoes and chestnuts. The main dish is stone-grilled Joshu beef steak. The rice cooked in Nanbu ironware is delicious. It is not barrier-free, so accommodation for people with disabilities may be difficult. WiFi is weak. For breakfast, you can choose between Japanese or Western food in the hotel, or brunch at Kashiwaya Cafe, which is a little further away. C/O 12 o'clock is very attractive.

We stayed at this Riokan on our first trip to Japan and we couldn't have made a better choice!Beautiful and very suggestive structure, surrounded by nature and close to a very characteristic village.Impeccable hospitality, very kind and helpful staff, they made us feel at ease straight away.Rooms in perfect Japanese style, very clean and equipped with every comfort. We took the room with the onsen inside, wonderful.Delicious and abundant dinner and breakfast (we took the vegan option). The structure is equipped with 3 private onsen and 1 public one available for anyone who stays, which are also very fascinating. An experience that I would repeat and recommend to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in Japanese culture. Thanks again for your hospitality! Greetings from Carlotta and Mirco
