Gunma Prefecture's most talked about art hotel, which has come back like a phoenix from the crisis of going out of business. This time I was invited. As you can see, the exterior looks quite old, but the history of this Shiraiya Hotel is quite dramatic. Its predecessor, Shiraiya Ryokan, was founded in the Edo period. In the 1970s, it transformed into its current hotel business, but it closed down in 2008, ending its 300-year history.Due to this, it was once in danger of being demolished, but in 2014 it was renovated as part of the activities of the Hitoshi Tanaka Foundation (founder of JINS, famous for its glasses), which leads the revitalization activities of Maebashi City, and in 2020. It was reopened in .Works by famous artists such as Mika Ninagawa can be found throughout the hotel. No matter where you take the picture, it will turn out to be a picture.
