I have spent 2 nights and 3 days at Rie-san's guesthouse. It was one of the best experiences of my stay in Japan, discovering the Japanese countryside was very mind-blowing. Rie-san is such a proactive women, very healthy and generous. She's involved in so many activities such as teaching, building, cooking... I still wonder how she manages her time, impressive. I really love the area, Mamihara, Gokase and Takachiho. The inhabitants are so welcoming and the food is delicious and authentic. I really recommend you to go visit the place!Thank you Rie-san for this wonderful experience!

The lovely and cute female owner was very kind and I used her for a two-night, three-day fishing trip, and she treated me very well. It seems that they renovated an old house from the Showa era, and it was a renovated building, so it was a very quiet and comfortable stay. I only had to stay overnight while fishing, so it was a very satisfying place. Guests can rent MTBs for free, and we were able to enjoy fishing in the clear stream that flows nearby.Although we only stayed overnight, there were two izakaya restaurants nearby, which were reasonably priced and had delicious food. There's also a butcher shop that sells horsemeat croquettes and horsemeat burgers. It was on sale and very delicious.A boy from Germany is now helping me, and we were able to talk to him in my broken English, and it became a fun memory. The owner, who looked like a high school student, was very kind and friendly. We also plan to use it.

A guest house where you feel safe and feel like you're back at your parents' house or grandma's house😘The owner's smile and service spirit are amazing💕🔥He also told me various recommended sightseeing spots😄💕The cleaning is thorough and beautiful!Even my younger sister who has bad backs praises the quality of the bedding😄⭐️The surrounding area has the atmosphere of a post town that was once a former checkpoint, and a large river runs through it, creating a peaceful townscape. There is also a convenience store just a short walk away♪There is also a delicious izakaya nearby❣️The German person who came to help 🇩🇪He was a very friendly and nice person☺️This is a recommended inn 🌈🐉

Rie is a super sweet and caring host. I was planning to leave early to Kumamoto but she convinced me to stay and showed me some amazing hidden gems around Mamihare. She drove me to four different places! hostel enough, esp. if you liked the Takachiho gorge.

Such a nice guesthouse, in a lovely small village in the mountains. Owner Rie is so sweet and takes all her time to make one feel at home. She even showed us around in the village and to some shrines and told us a lot about Shintoism. The surroundings are beautiful with so many places to visit; gorges, shrines, temples, rivers, mountains and lovely towns. All the people we met in the village were welcoming and friendly.Thank you Rie for the warm hospitality ❤️

Really kind owner and enjoyed the peacefulness of Mamihara. Particularly liked the waterfalls near here that she will show you, way better than the popular gorge that is close to here.

Omusubi guesthouse is so cozy and nice ! I have been staying here for a week. It is located in Mamihara. Although it is a small town but it’s so easy to go to Takachiho. There are also a lot of hidden place and beautiful shrine around Mamibara recommended by the host. The host is so welcoming and makes me feel like home ☺️ I visited a lot of place around here from Mamihare, like shrine, mountains, mount Aso, waterfall etc. the nature that it offers here in Kyushu is just amazing !! There are also some hidden, cozy and reasonable predice izakaya bar that will blow your mind !! And some very traditional, European style bakery and cafe 🥹 The view it’s breathtaking as well. I will definitely come back in the future !!

When I informed them that I could not pay by card, they immediately accommodated my reservation in cash. As everyone has said, the female owner's consideration was wonderful. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for the handmade wood plates I received as souvenirs on my way home. I was worried because it was a guesthouse, but I had a good night's sleep in the private space of the spacious private room. I was able to use the Meitokuyama parking lot nearby.

It was an incredible experience. The host is adorable, very kind, attentive, the rooms are large in an old house about a hundred years old, very well maintained. The price is very affordable especially for the quality of service. The town is magnificent, it’s a super cute little village of 300 inhabitants with a small supermarket open until 9 p.m., a few small temples, fishmongers, butchers. All the people are nice. It’s a great place to recharge your batteries and take some time for yourself.I recommend +++!
