The renovation of the Taisho hot springs building has been completed. Although you cannot stay overnight, it is full of vestiges of the past. It's perfect for relaxing while looking at the scenery.

I visited the Japan Secret Hot Springs Protection Association because it was said to be a radium spring in the summer. We take a shuttle bus from Urasa Station and head deep into the mountains. Because the inn is located deep in the mountains, it is very quiet and relaxing. The small feel of the Japanese-style room is relaxing. Although the history of the inn is quite old, the inside of the building and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The public bath was a cold spring bath, and everyone seemed to be able to soak in it for about an hour. The private bath was for 40 minutes and the water was warm. But do radium springs work? I have some doubts. It was nice to have free mineral water, tea, coffee, etc. in front of the front desk. It's the perfect place when you want to be alone and quiet.

I visited this place during the coronavirus pandemic, but I was able to use it at a low price due to the subsidy, but when I look at the recent prices, the price has gone up two ranks, and considering the meals and …

I was looking forward to this hot spring inn, but perhaps my expectations were too high, and I was often disappointed.Although the rooms are minimal, they have everything you need, but you have to go to the common area for water and tea, so it felt like a business hotel. I think it would be good to have at least a tea set in the room. The room was on the basement floor, near a boiler room or something, so there was a lot of noise all day long, which was disappointing. The sound of the stream is loud, but it's not suitable if you want to enjoy a relaxing hot spring bath surrounded by nature (there may be quieter rooms on other floors). Also, when I woke up in the morning, I felt itchy insect bites in several places. I've seen other people's reviews, so I think it's a mite. This was the first time I had been infested with ticks while staying there.Although the food was not fancy, it was delicious and satisfying. As for rice, the white rice was average and the mixed grain rice was delicious. Also, at dinner time, there were Western dishes such as poiret and gratin, so it would be a good idea to check if you are recovering from an illness in the hot springs. The hot springs are colorless, transparent, and odorless, and although you won't be able to tell the effectiveness of radium after staying overnight, soaking in the lukewarm water in the large communal bath gave me a strange, fluffy feeling that felt good.Unfortunately, in the private bath in the morning, the outdoor bath had the source stopped and the hot water was stagnant, and the indoor bath had the source but was not heated, so the water temperature was lower than the large bath.I called the front desk. But no one could get out. Although it may be due to the heavy rain, it is a problem for a hot spring inn that the hot spring guard is unable to properly maintain the hot water condition even though it was around 6 a.m., not that early in the morning.Additionally, since the hot springs are odorless, there was a slight fishy or moldy smell that bothered me. Maybe it can't be helped because it's an old inn...The staff were generally kind, but when I told the woman at check-in that I had finished writing, she told me smack-dab that it was my turn, and when she gave the explanation, she didn't smile and gave the impression of being overbearing and giving me the impression that she had no leeway. Unfortunately, I thought there was no such thing.Overall, I get the impression that they are trying too hard to be more efficient and are neglecting important aspects of a hot spring inn.In addition, if you write a review and present it to the hotel, it will be considered a free gift. There was a notice saying that you would receive one. I think that's why there are so many good reviews. There aren't many negative reviews, but when I read them, I thought they were mostly saying the same things.I think this inn is very good at public relations and advertising.

We are visiting the inns of the Japan Secret Hot Springs Association.Tochiomata Onsen Jizaikan has been featured on many TV travel programs, and has been a hot spring inn that I've always wanted to visit. This is a long-established inn that has been in business for 400 years and still retains a lot of the atmosphere of the past.[Residence] Hidden hot spring in the mountainsThere is also a shuttle bus from Urasa Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen, making it very easy to access. The view of private houses from the train window and the unique structure of the snowy country made me realize that this is one of the heaviest snowfall areas in Japan.About 35 minutes from the station, we arrived at Tochiomata Onsen's Jizaikan in the mountains. The inn was a group of large buildings lined up halfway down a deep valley. The room I stayed in this time was a small, clean, 6 tatami room for one person.Unlike the old Taisho building, it had a lock and air conditioner, making it very comfortable. Thanks to this, I was able to spend my stay in a very quiet place while listening to the sound of the river.[Hot water] Effects of hot waterIt still inherits the style of traditional Japanese hot springs, and still plays the role of hot spring healing. The radium hot springs are lukewarm at 36°C, and it is recommended that you soak in them slowly and quietly for a long time. When you soak up to your neck in lukewarm water for a long time, your body naturally feels like it's being released from gravity. The feeling of floating, as if your body and body are merging with the water, is indescribably comfortable. It is also said that taking alternate baths of hot and lukewarm water will help balance your autonomic nervous system. Thanks to you, by soaking for a long time, I was able to sleep comfortably, to the point where I overslept. Its efficacy is consistent with modern diseases such as neuralgia and high blood pressure, making it ideal for preventing pre-symptomatic conditions.[Food] Locally produced for local consumptionMy favorite meal was the in-room meal, which was made with local ingredients and was very healthy. For dinner, we enjoyed plenty of mountain food. The river fish dishes, such as rainbow trout sashimi and charcoal-grilled rockfish, were very delicious. Also, the sesame tofu and fukinoto nutta were really delicious. In addition, the cabbage rolls were flavorful with shiitake mushrooms and minced meat. The deep-fried Kurumafu with Chinese sauce had a very good seasoning and was a delicacy that I had never tasted before. The duck hot pot I ordered as an option had tough meat, and unfortunately it didn't taste as good.I finished the rice by chewing on the five-grain rice.Alcohol, which can be called a friend of sake, is allowed to be brought in, so I chilled and enjoyed the famous local sake "Hakkaisan" that I bought at the station. For breakfast, the grilled herring was very delicious. In addition, there was a parade of vegetables such as nameko mushrooms and spinach along with the boiled potatoes. The highlight, of course, is the Koshihikari rice from Uonuma.I was able to enjoy a collaboration with Tochiomata Onsen's radium natto.Check-out time was also at 11:00, so we were able to stay comfortably for 20 hours from check-in at 3:00 p.m.By enjoying a relaxing and blissful time at the Yoyo no Yado, I was able to balance my mind and body.

Favorite order: Shimo no Yu, Oku no Yu, Ueno YuThe solemn atmosphere of Shitonoyu was very nice, and as I watched the ripples of the sacred water pouring from the spout illuminated by spotlights spread across my body in layers of rainbow color, I fell into a deep meditative state. Put it away. Basically, it was a quiet space where you could deeply relax, but when multiple elderly people came in, the chatter would suddenly wake you up.The provided shampoo was POLA, and it wasn't plant-based/non-silicon, so if you're a natural person, it might be a good idea to bring your own.Regarding sleep, I didn't get a good night's sleep just because I came here, but the next day I returned home I felt extremely tired and I think something was changing in my body. After that, I feel like my daily sleep has improved a little. I would like to continue going regularly in hopes of improving my health. The rice is plentiful and very delicious, so I've gained a little over 1k in weight since coming here...I'd like to come back next time with a smaller meal! The sacred tree at the shrine next to it is also stunning ✨2nd stayPerhaps because it was midsummer, I was concerned about the damp smell of the lower bath, so I spent time in the upper and inner baths. Also, the air conditioning inside the building was working, so it felt a little cold. I usually get cold due to the air conditioner in my office, so this time I took a nice soak in the warm water. I find this place very useful as a place where I can truly face myself alone. However, I would like you to refrain from small talk in the bath. Everyone sharing the same space will be silently listening to what is being said. .
