Stayed in the 4 bedroom Family Suite at Kamamotoya for a few days in Green Season. The accommodation was top notch… staff were super helpful, the flat was exceptionally comfortable and beautifully clean, with afternoon sun and great views out over the valley. We made good use of the gym and private family baths downstairs. Another highlight was Hardings Cafe in the hotel lobby downstairs… excellent coffee, great breakfast / lunch menu… and they also do a tapas dinner on certain nights which you shouldn’t miss. Nozawa Onsen was an absolute blast… unlike some other ski towns in Summer we found plenty of fun stuff to do on the mountain, and most of the restaurants and bars in town were open. This place really is as much a wonderland in Green Season as it is in the snow.

Large public bath ⇒ Not a hot springBreakfast included: A loaf of bread (very ripe) in the room, ham in the refrigerator, milk, apple juice, butter, jam on a plate, yogurt, espresso machine and coffee capsules.First of all, I was given an explanation in broken Japanese, but they said, ``We won't be going to the cafe in June, we worked hard in the winter, we won't be making breakfast now, we'll have to make it ourselves in our room, and from July we'll be going to the cafe.'' I'm going to have a morning session.''What about those of us who don't stay in July during the winter? When I went to the room, I was surprised to find all the ingredients.I don't usually eat commercially available bread.Even though I came here to experience something out of the ordinary, the reality is more real than everyday life. Also, even if I wanted to drink apple juice, there was no bottle opener, and the tableware and espresso machine were located high up, so I couldn't do everything.I am over 160cm tall. There were no instructions on how to use the espresso machine. The front desk will be leaving soon. The smell of ham being grilled upstairs filled the air late at night. There was hair on the bed, which was disappointing as I had high expectations because of the high ratings.

The style of the hotel intrigues me. It appears to be recently renovated and, to my inexpert eye, seems to be a blend of traditional Japanese Ryokan and standard, Western style hotel. …

We loved our stay at Kawamatoya (Apartment 401). The facilities were excellent and we had fantastic views of the Nozawa Onsen mountains. I loved the large open area kitchen for our group to play card games or relax after a big day of skiing. The kitchen downstairs had excellent coffee and cute pastries daily - make sure you get in quick as they would often sell out. There was also a complimentary daily bus service directly to the gondola station during the ski season or to the local bus stop so we didnt have to lug our ski equipment each day or our bags. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and will definitely be back again.

Brilliant hotel, newly renovated with great staff. Breakfast is excellent.Restaurants in Nozawa Onsen are very busy and a month prior to our trip they reached out to me to ask if they could make restaurant reservations for us.Very well located for bars and restaurants, however not so great for access to the slopes. They will drop you there in the morning, but it can be a bit of a walk in the afternoon.Highly recommended
