(from TAIWAN)I moved in in January 2024. The main purpose was to go skiing in Iwahara. At that time, the accommodation was almost fully booked. I finally found this hotel with vacancies on jalan.net and made a reservation immediately without thinking too much. This place seems to mainly receive Japanese guests, and we were the only group of foreigners on the day we checked in. The boss and his wife don't seem to know any foreign languages except Japanese. However, they have very cheerful personalities and can communicate with each other with a little bit of Japanese, gestures, and most importantly, smiles. You can also use the translation app directly, because the boss seems to be used to communicating with us this way.I didn't have high expectations at first, but after checking in, I completely changed my mind and the experience was very good. First of all, after checking in, we can wait for us to finish dressing. A special car will take us to the ticket office of the ski resort. We also have our own shuttle bus time for the return trip. Just wait in the parking lot at 16:10 and 17:10. The name of the B&B is written on the outside of the shuttle bus, so just go there when you see it.The B&B has a drying room and a place to put snowboards. There are many hooks in the room, which is very convenient for skiers. Wet items can be hung up. The heater in the room is enough to dry everything. There is also a kotatsu in the room like Xiaowanzi’s home, which is rare for Taiwanese people. I think it is super warm and I like it very much! The important thing is that the B&B has a hot spring! Although the bathhouse is not large, as long as you bathe at a staggered time with other guests, you can enjoy the wonderful hot springs to yourself (note: there are no bathrooms and toilets in the room, so you need to use shared ones). After skiing, I immediately went to the hot spring bath, which was a great experience. After soaking in the soup, you can have dinner (dinner starts at 18:00). I must say that the dinner set is really delicious. There are also various kinds of wine you can order (there are a lot of Japanese sake) for an additional fee. I don’t know why, but everyone is very obedient and comes to dine on time at 18:00After finishing the meal, you can go back to the room and make the bed to sleep (we made the bed ourselves). The room is very warm and comfortable. You can have breakfast at 8:00 the next day. The breakfast is simple, nutritious and delicious. After eating, you can take the B&B's shuttle bus at 9:30 to continue skiing at the ski resort and start a new day of skiing.Check-out of the B&B is at 10:00. We took our luggage and ski equipment to the ski resort. There is a coin locker and changing room next to the parking lot, which is very convenient for tidying up.I think this two-day and one-night experience is great and the price is affordable. Recommend this B&B.Because the owner does not speak foreign languages, and most of the guests are Japanese, everyone is asked to abide by the rules of the B&B or the local area, and it is best not to cause trouble to them. When you check in, you can experience local accommodation with an open mind and a friendly attitude. I think you will get a lot of different feelings from those in a hotel.

Amazing cuisine!! Anyone who suffers from food allergy, this lodge is your answer! I have soy allergy however the owner has prepared each meal just for me, with yummy home-made sauce/dishes, he even bought a miso made out of grains ! Well presented, all tastes lovely. It has all you want for your snow trip - hot spring, Japanese traditional kotatsu, fire place, easy access(free shuttle) to the snow/station, and cozy rooms. All I could say, is “what a hospitality”:)) 200% contented! Says my belly:)I had never experienced such wonderful hospitality in my life! For me, who has a soy allergy, every meal was filled with homemade sauces and creatively delicious dishes, and they even bought miso that doesn't contain soy.Even people who don't ski or snowboard will be satisfied with the delicious food. The gentle owner is truly kind-hearted and provides professional care. The ultimate treat is definitely at this lodge in Iwahara⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overall it was a good lodge.First of all, the rice is delicious.I'll refill this.I was happy to be able to taste and compare Uonuma's local sake. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also good.A wood stove is great. Is there a small climb in the back where children can play? There may be.I am grateful that they were able to provide transportation to and from the ski resort on a case-by-case basis. You can also rent it cheaply. If I were to be picky about it, it would be that the walls are so thin that you can hear the noise from next door.Thank you for your help.

I stayed here when I visited Kagura Ski Resort at the end of 2022.Although it is advertised as a lodge, it is more like a guesthouse. There was a wainscot board in the room, so it was barely there. However, the specialty here is the chicken baked in a Dutch oven. The chicken is not crunchy, but soft and has been exposed to the sun, which is delicious. I make the same dishes at home using a BBQ stove, but I still can't compete with the pros. We had delicious.Just to be sure, I think it would be better to order a chicken dish, as the regular dishes might be a bit unsatisfactory. Please refer to the photo. We use homemade rice from Uonuma. It's a little softer than normal, but I think it definitely tastes good.As for drinks, this inn has a wide selection of Japanese sake, which I think is irresistible for alcohol lovers. If I had to point out a bad point, I would like the self-serve soup to be a little warmer. It felt quite lukewarm. The taste is good, but I want to eat it piping hot. That said, most of the staff were cheerful and I had a good time. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity.P.S. Lodge Yamabiko's homemade Uonuma Koshihikari rice (3,000 yen for 5 kg) that I bought as a souvenir was super delicious. There were some irregular grains, white dead rice, and broken rice here and there, but the taste was still exceptional.By the way, the rice was cooked to be slightly softer than the rice at the gyudon restaurant. Please try once. You won't regret it (lol)Personally, I wanted to buy it with brown rice to make it more delicious.
