It's a good value for money accommodation. As everyone has written,The price for one night and two meals is less than 10,000 yen. This time I was traveling alone, and my main goal was to relax, so I had meals in my room, including breakfast. The amount of food was just about the limit I could eat, so I was very happy. My room was on the same floor as the front desk, and there was a toilet next to it, which I was grateful for because I woke up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night or early in the morning.Even though it was next door, the toilet was located at the back, so I didn't have to worry about noise or smells. On the first day I stayed, there were no female guests and the indoor bath was reserved for private use, so I was allowed to see it, but I did not use the open-air bath. The indoor bath can be used 24 hours a day, but the open-air bath is quite open and the wind is cold at this time of year, so you don't want to get heat shock.I was informed that the room could only be used until 6:30 p.m.The front area and washroom had been renovated and were beautiful. It seems that some rooms have been renovated.Since it's an old building, there are some areas with noticeable damage, but it didn't bother me that much. The futon was fluffy, and although I could hear the sound of the river flowing, I had a good night's sleep. The windows are double glazed and there is also a shoji screen on the inside, so I think you can sleep if you close them all.Since there was no refrigerator in the room, I had to open both the outside and inside windows a little to cool down the drinks I had bought. The indoor bath has free flowing water,Depending on when you put it in, it will be hot, so you may want to add water to lower the temperature. Also, there is only one shower stand, so if there are several people in the shower, you will need to take turns using it.There is also a hair dryer in the changing room.I thought I could use it in the bathroom, but I couldn't find any outlets around the sink, so I could only use it in the changing room. The light above the mirror in the changing room didn't come on, and it was cloudy with steam, so I couldn't see how it dried at all (lol)If you are concerned about your hair style, you may want to bring your own hair dryer. After breakfast, the owner brewed coffee and brought it to our room.It is located right after getting off at the "Gongenzawa" stop on the bus bound for Shima Onsen. From there, you can reach Shima Onsen Town in about 15 minutes on foot.At first, I was worried about the bear, but I was told that the bear was not out there, as there was also traffic on the road where local buses also pass.
