This is Shima Onsen for the first time in 6 years. As expected, the building feels old, but the rooms and equipment seem to be well maintained and cleaned. There are two hot springs, and the open-air bath on the first basement floor was especially nice, but we had to wait about 20 minutes before entering the open-air bath....There were probably two family groups, and four children were swimming in the open-air bath, so I gave up on going in.The second time, he tried again after 10 minutes, but he could not stop swimming and gave up.The third time, he tried again after 15 minutes, but he could not stop swimming and gave up.Four children and two people who appeared to be their fathers waited until they left the open-air bath. Two or three times I went right before the open-air bath, and each time I was staring at people who looked like my father, but they had no common sense. The morning and evening buffet was delicious, as was the spicy hot pot that I made myself at dinner. Also, most of the hotel staff were relatively young, and I was very impressed with their kind and courteous service.

I booked it last minute and stayed at a cheap price, so the room was as good as I imagined it would be at a Showa era hotel. The food is the same buffet as the other rooms. However, the sides of the tables at the buffet venue were probably to separate them from the next table, but there were two types of gaps: 4cm to 5cm gaps and gaps that people could barely fit through while lying sideways. People with food take shortcuts and pass through gaps that are just barely fit, making eating uncomfortable.

There was an old woman using a smartphone in the women's open-air bath.It was night and the only employee was an old man, so I couldn't ask him to use the women's bath. When I took my eyes off my bag for 3 minutes inside the hotel, it was stolen.Combined with these two points, this is a very unsafe inn.The toilet is also old and dirty.

The room was a cheap reservation through Hotel Omakase, but it was a corner room with a nice view. However, there are steps in various parts of the room, making it difficult to call it barrier-free.The bath was a little hot, but there were no problems with water pressure. The cleaning of the room seemed a little sloppy, but I don't think it's a big problem.I think it's best not to expect too much food considering the price. It was a facility that felt like the Showa era, for better or worse.

Great for relaxing in the hot springs! And it's cheap! A buffet where you can eat at your own pace without worrying about the food. If you stick to the themes of ``doing nothing, relaxing, and soaking in a hot spring,'' you can fully enjoy the feeling of traveling. When I had a gap in my weekend schedule, I looked for it last minute and was able to get a night's stay at a surprisingly cheap price with the ``last minute discount.'' Moreover, there seems to be a direct bus service from Tokyo Station. I was also able to make a reservation the day before. I had to do some work at the inn, and I had run out of energy for sightseeing, so I decided to just relax at the inn and take a bath in the hot springs.【inn】It’s an inn in a hot spring town! Good old hot spring hotel! I like the maze-like building in this valley location. Still, I didn't have to walk around like I do at certain members-only hotels (there were directions everywhere), and I was able to get to the dining hall and public bath without getting lost. Above all, my impression of the staff was very good. From the time we entered the building, to the check-in, to the dining hall, to the times we passed each other on the way, to the time we checked out, all the staff, both Japanese and foreign, were polite and cheerful, greeted us with kind words, and made us feel comfortable. The room was a last-minute reservation with no choice, but it was a Japanese-style room with a toilet with a washlet, so it was sufficient.【hot spring】I purchased a hot spring passport (1,100 yen) that allows me to take a bath at our sister hotel, Shima Tamura, and if you like hot springs, you should definitely get one. Shima Tamura has many baths, and it's fun to visit all of them. The lighting is generally dark, so I think it's best to go when it's bright to get a better feel of the atmosphere. Most of the baths were hot, but I took my time in the warm water bath. Both Tamura and Grand Hotel still have old facilities that are no longer usable, and I was able to feel the hot spring culture. Also, for better or worse, all the baths are empty even on weekends, so you can relax.[Viking]I was told that I would rather eat out for a slightly better meal, but the dinner and breakfast buffet had a wide variety of items and was well worth the price. For dinner, the sweet shrimp sashimi and tempura were delicious. Also, Gunma has a lot of konnyaku dishes.[Overview]It was just under 20,000 yen including transportation costs, so it's a good deal. I was as satisfied as I expected. However, if you are looking for a new and clean hotel, I think it would be better to go elsewhere. If you're looking for a relaxing weekend to relax and reset, I think it's perfect because it has a nostalgic atmosphere and plenty of hot springs. It's an inn I'd like to stay at again because it's easily accessible from Tokyo. If you're looking for a daze, you can look at the Shima River in front of you and soak in the hot springs, which will reset your body and relax, but if you want to go sightseeing, it's a rather compact city. It's helpful to be able to get around on foot. Also, the baths at Tamura in particular are old-fashioned and have several stairs to climb up and down, so it might be difficult for people with mobility problems to take a bath in all of them. The Grand Hotel also has guest rooms on the first floor, and I even saw people using wheelchairs.[Personally concerned]I was curious about the smell of the shampoo provided (a refreshing floral scent?). Also, most of the baths are hot, so it would be helpful if there was only one cold spring, so we could take turns bathing.I was worried that the water quality was so good and it was so empty, so I would like to come back as often as possible.

I stayed there the other day. The staff's response was excellent. However, deterioration was visible everywhere. The parts exposed to the rain and the roof are full of moss. The chairs in the smoking area are covered in white mold. Cleaning inside the building is ✖.I got a room with a semi-open-air bath, but when I heard at check-in that it was on the 1st floor, I had a bad feeling...Although it was on the first floor, it was the equivalent of the second floor, but I was blindfolded and had no view. On top of that, no matter which window you open, there's a white film on the glass so you can't see anything. It would be unreasonable to install it on this floor (if you open the window, there will be people walking below). The floor of the semi-open-air bath was black where the hot water flows and I thought it was mold.As for the food, the freshness of the sashimi is not good. Salad-related vegetables are not tasty. It's a shame because the staff were wonderful.
