I personally came to the forest school run by Sayama City Okutomi Elementary School on August 2-4, 1983, and stayed there for the first night on August 2-3, 1983. This was the first time in my life that I entered the southern part of Tohoku in Fukushima Prefecture, and it was very difficult.Until the Kanetsu Expressway opened in October 1985, connecting to Niigata Prefecture via Gunma Prefecture, the Tokyo-bound side was at the Maebashi Interchange. was the last stop, so I had no choice but to take National Route 17 through Maebashi/Shibukawa city, past the old Ten Grand, and get to Numata. We got off the sightseeing bus at Togura, transferred to a microbus, and arrived at Hatomachi Pass. From there we started walking, ate a bento at Yamahana Goya, passed by Ryugu Koya, and finally experienced Fukushima for the first time in our lives. I entered the prefecture and arrived at this mountain hut in the evening. On top of that, I was often warned by the chief leader, severely scolded by the team teacher, and even ate sweets on my own, and the next day, before leaving this mountain hut, I went on a tour of Ozegahara. It was very common for me to receive various warnings from my group's teachers and others, and many troubles often occurred.

Personally, I think Ozenuma is the introductory version of Japanese mountaineering. The trails are friendly and easy to walk, and there are many mountain huts to choose from, and the mountain huts are also well-equipped. This time I stayed at the Second Changzang Cottage on October 9th. The entire process and experience from the online reservation to the day of check-in was quite good. The staff at Mountain House were friendly and attentive, especially when one of our friends needed a ventilator to sleep. Mountain House made an exception and provided electricity to our room all night, which made us very touched. Overall, this is a good choice. If you want to be picky, the heater in the drying room is turned on too briefly, so the soaked shoes cannot be completely dried. In addition, there is no shower head in the bathroom, and the water in the large bathtub is full of floating objects. It doesn't feel very hygienic.

Looking at the reviews, it seems like things have changed a lot.About 20 years ago, my mother and I stayed here.I was treated so badly at this lodge that I still remember it, and the wonderful Ozenuma has been completely traumatized. Now that we can write on the internet, I think it's a bit unpleasant to bring up stories from the past, but I think you can use them as a reference as they are one aspect of mountain huts.At that time, it was a little off-season, as it was raining in the fall, and there seemed to be a few groups staying at this lodge, including us.At that time, there was a man at this lodge who looked like the father of a mountain hut, and he was intimidating from beginning to end, and he said things like, "What did you come here for?" and left. There were many times when I didn't know how to spend my time, but when I tried to ask where the people from the lodge were, I couldn't find them at all.We spent the whole time fumbling around, and the bath, which was filled with rainwater from floating leaves, was warm.It was a bit cold at night, and there was a stove burning in the hall, but when I went around with my mother, my father came over and immediately turned it off right in front of me without a word. Are the people at the lodge acquaintances in the room with the sliding glass door in the back? I saw him sitting under the kotatsu with me, inviting me to join him. ``Come, come, it's cold!'' The stove was ostentatiously turned off and we were cold and completely ignored, which made us sad.Other than a minimal explanation immediately after arriving, no one from the lodge showed their faces at all, and I have no recollection of any conversations.I had only asked for breakfast, so when I woke up and went to the dining room, it was empty and there was only enough food for two people on the table. Even after the two of us had eaten, not a single person from the lodge showed up.At that time, the father of the mountain hut told me, ``What are you people doing here who are out of place like you? Go home now.''I was young at the time and didn't know much about Ozenuma, so I don't remember much, but maybe I wasn't dressed appropriately. Since he only had jeans, it is likely that he wore them.Did that make you feel angry? When I visited Ozenuma for the first time, I was impressed with how cold and mean mountain huts were, and even though I still want to go there, I can't because of this trauma. It is certainly understandable that the mountain huts live in a special environment and are protecting Lake Ozenuma, but they are allowed to live there and are able to survive because there are customers, so how can they do that? At the time, I wondered if it was possible to live this arrogantly. Also, I would like to go to Lake Ozenuma, but I don't want to stay at this lodge or any inn where this lodge can be seen.

I stayed with satisfaction. There isn't much information, so I'll write down what I felt on the bus from Oshimizu to Shinjuku.1. I made a reservation through the hotel website and paid in advance. I really enjoyed dinner and breakfast, and you can control the amount of rice by choosing the bowl size (small, medium, large). I checked in slightly earlier (about 10 minutes) than 2pm sharp.2. Hot water, equivalent to cup ramen, is provided for each guest.3. The bathhouse has separate times for men and women. There was soap provided by the accommodation (it doesn't create a lot of foam) so I washed with it, but there was no dryer or towels provided. You can bring your own towels, and it appears that a dryer is not provided to save electricity. The water that comes out from the outside of the bath is cold, so all you have to do is scoop up the water with a bowl, take a quick shower, and then enter the bath. Usually it's the woman who makes the first turn, but my mom said it was very warm and nice. It was my second turn, and I couldn't help but feel a little cold.4. An outlet is located in the middle of the stairs, and there is also a space where you can do simple office work. There is no outlet in the room, so you can charge it while going back and forth. TMI, don't bother bringing a heavy dryer, you can just dry naturally(...).5. Be sure to request dinner and breakfast. It’s really delicious. I don't know if it works, but we ate it with some anchovies and seaweed that we brought from Korea.6. Please leave your mountaineering backpack before check-in. We left it at around 10:30, went to Sanjo Falls, and checked in, which was just around the time. However, the road to Sanjo Falls is more difficult than expected, so it would be a good idea to be thoroughly prepared. (Mud road, stairs going down while holding a rope, etc.)7. There are two stairs. It is structured with two stairs and a restaurant on the first floor. The guest room is on the 2nd floor. To get to the bathroom, sink, and toilet, use the inner stairs (go up, go through the guest room hallway, and then go down), and to get to the restaurant and exit, use the outside stairs. The outlet is in the center of the outside stairs.8. Just drink water from the sink. You can brush your teeth and wash your face at the sink. And what impressed me was that the bathroom was clean and even had a bidet.9. When checking in, I requested lunch the next day (meatballs such as onigiri and oden). I ate it while hiking and it was delicious.10. If you eat breakfast and hike the road to Ozenuma around 6:40, it is perfect to catch the 1:10 express bus from Oshimizu to Shinjuku. (Advance reservation for express bus is required) Shuttle bus operated from Ichinose to Oshimizu. Since they said they didn't, you should go out diligently and be prepared for them not to come.11. Lights are turned off around 9 p.m. Don't worry, the lights are on on the way to the bathroom.※Overall review: The staff is very friendly, it is very clean, and I would definitely visit again. My mother wanted to come to Oje, and thanks to the mountain hut, the heat was a great memory and I would like to say I am really grateful to the staff.

Since it's a mountain hut, there are no special facilities, but I liked the calm, inn-like feel, so I stayed here again this year as I did last year. I also appreciate that the rooms are fully equipped with futons and private rooms for up to 2 people.
